Prayer For Teachers New School Year
Father God, I come to you this morning asking for your protective hand over each of these individuals. I pray for our teachers as they dedicate their lives to educating children. Please bless them with strength, commitment, a strong sense of purpose, and favor with students and parents. Equip them with wisdom, endurance, joy, creativity and patience. Give them the ability to love like you, Lord. Use these teachers to make an eternal difference in the lives of their students. I pray that our parents and families feel Your grace and peace as their children embark on this new adventure. Amen.
Dear Lord, I come to you on behalf of our students who are starting their journey in a new school or a new place. May each one feel secure in Your arms and be surrounded by a support system that is pleasing to You. Please sharpen their minds, give them courage to learn and help them to shine in their environment. Father I pray they are a gentle, loving, and kind individual who thinks of others, before themselves. May they turn to You in times of need and in times of praise and gratitude. Please help each student follow the path that You have set before them and may they be an encouragement to friends who may not know you as their personal savior. Fill them with abundance and light as they make their way to their classrooms and schools. Amen.
Almighty God, because we love our children, because our hearts yearn for their schools, we cannot remain silent. We will not stop praying until their righteousness shines like the dawn, and their salvation blazes like a burning torch. May they be called the Holy People and the People Redeemed by the Lord. And may their schools be known as the Desirable Place and the City No Longer Forsaken (Isaiah 62:1, 12). In Jesus' name, amen.
Almighty God, You have given my kids all the talents, abilities, and spiritual gifts they need to follow Your plan for their lives. Lord, help them use those gifts to serve You first and others second, so that Your will is accomplished in their lives. Lord, fill their lives with trusted teachers and advisers who can lead them toward You and Your promises. Help them turn to you as they learn and grow so they can lead fruitful and prosperous lives. Amen.
[Names of teachers],
As we welcome you to [name of school],
we pray for you that God may bless you in each lesson and hour of the day,
that you may transform the lives of the pupils entrusted to your care.
Teach with love of learning,
with enthusiasm and truthfulness,
sharing with generosity your own learning and experience.
Act and speak with integrity and compassion,
forgiving as you would wish to be forgiven.
Learn with dedication and reverence,
reflecting on your own life.
Accept this light as a sign of your ministry as teacher:
a light to make known the truth.
All this we pray through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Father,
you call us together at the beginning of this new school year.
We ask you to send your spirit upon us that,
as the days and terms unfold,
we may be always mindful of your presence
and alert to opportunities to see and serve you in those around us.
We pray that we may teach well by the example of our own lives,
by our knowledge and love of learning,
by our gentleness and care of the pupils entrusted to us.
In all that we do and say,
we pray that, in building up the community of our school,
we may contribute to the betterment of society
and to the Kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ,
for your greater glory.
Amen.
Help me to be a fine teacher, to keep peace in the classroom, peace between my students and myself, to be kind and gentle to each and every one of my students. Help me to be merciful to my students, to balance mercy and discipline in the right measure for each student, to give genuine praise as much as possible, to give constructive criticism in a manner that is palatable to my students. Help me to remain conscientious enough to keep my lessons always interesting, to recognize what motivates each of my students, to accept my students' limitations and not hold it against them. Help me not to judge my students too harshly, to be fair to all, to be a good role model, but most of all Lord help me to show your love to all of my students.
Amen.
Dear God,
Grant our teachers an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones, and may we make sure to show them love and respect in return. Give them grace as they help students who aren't thriving, courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small - yet incredibly important - ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come.
Amen.
