Prayer For Pastor And Church
Lord, grant that those pastors bring called into new waters might hold fast to unending love and mercy as a buey a love that promised to hold onto us even as we go where your Spirit leads us. May the churches that receive them be communities of mercy and grace.
May the churches experiencing loss and change hold fast to the promise that your mission is bigger than any single pastor, local church, or annual conference. Grant that such a promise would bring both comfort and discomfort comfort in a season of change and discomfort as it drives us all to love you and each other more. AMEN
Strengthen us to be your Church in all times and seasons of life a place where all are truly welcomed and embraced in your love (even new pastors and church members); a place where we find ways you are active among us and calling us to join in your saving work (even in communities that weren't our top choice to move to); a place where the story of your love and grace and mercy are embodied (even if it comes in shapes and sizes and languages that are new to us). We offer our prayers in the name of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Almighty God, whose Son took upon himself the afflictions of your people: Regard with your tender compassion those suffering from anxiety, depression, or mental illness; bear their sorrows and their care; supply all their needs; help them to put their whole trust and confidence in you; and restore them to strength of mind and cheerfulness of spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
O blessed Lord, you ministered to all who came to you: Look with compassion upon those who through addiction have lost their health and freedom. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy; remove from them the fears that beset them; strengthen them in the work of their recovery; and to those who minister to them, give patient understanding and persevering love; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are the giver of all things. Thank you for supplying our pastor with a servant's heart and skills. Thank you for building up our church through our pastor. Using our pastor for your glory. Open our pastor's heart and mind to understand and love you more. Thank you for our pastor's leadership.
Amen
Help me lead my people by example, trusting that it is not death to die'. In my teaching and encouragement, help me not to be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul'. Give me a greater reverence and affection for you, who can destroy both soul and body in hell' (Matthew 10:28). That we would know we more than conquerors through him who loved us' (Romans 8:37). That even the great enemy of death is but a doorway into your presence. Help us to see and believe and long for the victor's crown that awaits us (2:10), and so help us entrust our loved ones to your care.
Amen
We know that there is nothing that is too hard for you, and so we ask that a perimeter surround this city and county for the purpose of halting drug trafficking. May your angels patrol its borders and war for it. Within we ask that a fire would burn in the hearts of our people to be delivered from bondage. We believe in the words of Jesus . . . With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26). In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Dear Father, help us as the Church to continue to rely on the Divine revelation of Jesus Christ. Lord allow us to find comfort in understanding that no matter what we are faced with that you promised that the gates of Hades will not overcome us. Lord we thank you and we ask that you continue to keep the Church, O God, and that we can rest in your love and for that we say thank you. Lord we thank you for preserving and protecting your Church God. We lift up your name and exalt you as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Lord continue to keep your hands on us Lord and heal those that are sick. We give you glory and honor. In Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen
