Prayer For One Who Has Died
Lord,
N. is gone now from this earthly dwelling,
and has left behind those who mourn his/her absence.
Grant that we may hold his/her memory dear,
never bitter for what we have lost
nor in regret for the past,
but always in hope of the eternal Kingdom
where you will bring us together again.
Through Christ our Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ,
by your own three days in the tomb,
you hallowed the graves of all who believe in you
and so made the grave a sign of hope
that promises resurrection
even as it claims our mortal bodies.
O God, whose nature is ever to have mercy and to spare, we humbly beseech You on behalf of Your servant, N., whom You have called out of this world. That You would not deliver her/him into the hands of the enemy nor forget her/him forever, but bid Your holy angels, lead her/him into paradise, her/his true country, that for as much as in You s/he put her/his hope and trust, s/he may not endure the pains of hell, but may come to the possession of eternal joys. Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, Amen.
Grant, we beseech You, Almighty God, that the soul of Your servant, N., which has departed from this world, may be cleansed by this sacrifice, and delivered from sins, and may receive forgiveness and everlasting rest. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
Absolve, O Lord, the soul of You servant, N., from every stain of sin, so that by Your aid s/he may escape the judgment of wrath, and come to the enjoyment of beatitude in eternal light.
Lord, we don't understand why our loved ones should suddenly be removed from us through a sudden, unexpected death but Lord we trust You to soothe away the hurt in time for shall not the God of all the earth do right. In Jesus name, we pray,

I commend you, my dear [name] to almighty God, and entrust you to your Creator.
May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth.
May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life.
May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace.
May Christ who died for you admit you into his garden of paradise.
May Christ, the true Shepherd, embrace you as one of his flock.
May he forgive all your sins and set you among those he has chosen.
May you see your Redeemer face to face and enjoy the vision of God, forever.

Lord of all, we praise you
for all who have entered into their rest
and reached the promised land where you are seen face to face.
Give us grace to follow in their footsteps
as they followed in the way of your Son.

by each memory, turn our hearts from things seen to things unseen,
and lead us till we come to the eternal rest
you have prepared for your people,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
