Prayer For Day Of The Dead

O God, Whose property is always to have mercy and to spare, we humbly beseech Thee for the soul of Thy servant N, which Thou hast this day commanded to depart out of this world, that Thou wouldst not deliver it into the hands of the enemy, nor forget it unto the end, but wouldst command it to be received by the Holy Angels, and conducted to Paradise, its true country; that as in Thee it hath hoped and believed, it may not suffer the pains of hell, but may take possession of eternal joys.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:
welcome them into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,
but fullness of peace and joy
with your Son and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever.
R/. Amen.

Grant, we beg You, O Lord our God, that the souls of Your servants and handmaidens. The memory of whom we keep with special appreciation, and for whom we are tied and are bound to pray, and the souls of all our patrons, relatives and connections, and all the faithful, may rest in the bosom of Your saints; and hereafter, in the resurrection from death, may they please You in the land of the living. Through Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Loving God our Father,
Your power brings us to life.
Your care guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to the dust from which we came.

Father, those who pass on still live in Your presence,
their lives are changed but do not end.
I plead in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known only to You.

In the company of Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they find joy in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again as one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

Merciful Father,

On this day, we are called to remember those who have died,
Particularly those who have died in the past year,
And pray for their joyful reunion with you, their loving creator.
As your son taught us to call the stranger
neighbor, our fallen are many

Names we will never know,
Voices we have never heard,
In lands we may never visit,
Yet brothers and sisters all.
And so we pray.

For victims of war, caught in the crossfires of
conflicts we could not quell,
for soldiersand civilians,
adults and children, we pray
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For those migrants who have died seeking a
haven where they hoped to find safety
and opportunity for themselves and for their families, we pray
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For victims of hunger, denied their share in the
bounty you have placed before us, we pray
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For victims of AIDS, Malaria, Ebola, and other infectious diseases,
who died before adequate care could reach them, we pray
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For those refugees seeking asylum from war,
who died in a land that was not their home, we pray
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For victims of emergencies and calamities everywhere,
who died amid chaos and confusion, we pray
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

Lord, as you command, we reach out to the fallen.
We call on you on behalf of those we could not reach this year.
You raised your son from the dead
that all may share in his joyful resurrection.

In Jesus' name, we pray

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Requiescant in pace.

Amen

Lord God, your people throughout the world share in the grief of your daughters and sons whose loved ones died so violently.

Receive the dead into your love; comfort the survivors with the power and protection of your peace.

Show us how to reach out in generosity to the living, for together we are your people though we approach you from many paths and from many religious traditions.

We give voice to this prayer acknowledging your faithfulness and goodness. Amen.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

Father of all, we pray to you for N., and for all those whom we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
