Prayer For Contentment

Oh Lord, You are my shepherd and I should not be in want,
but so often I struggle to be content and do want;
forgetting that you have graciously provided me with every spiritual blessing in Christ and everything I need for life and godliness.

Thank you for often not giving me what I want
because my desires would draw my heart from being satisfied in You.
Help me to be content in You with what You have given me
and to not be focused on what my flesh wants or the world tells me I should have.

Protect me from coveting possessions or people,
talent or influence, relationships or prestige.
Keep my heart from being anxious for what I don't have
and make me thankful for the numerous gifts that You have already given.

According to Your Word and steadfast love,
fill me with the joy and satisfaction of contentment in Christ.
Help me learn to be content in any situation like Paul
and to quickly reject the idolatry that dwells beneath the surface of my coveting.

I ask you to continually bring to mind your faithful provision for all of my needs,
that Christ died for the sin of coveting,
that in Christ I am free to be content and live righteously,
and that godliness with contentment is greater gain than pleasing my flesh.

And may I be humbled and changed by the ultimate example of contentment;
of Christ becoming poor in order that I could become rich,
and being content to go to the cross to fulfill the Father's will
to rescue a people for Himself who can be free from discontent and zealous for good works.

Father God, as I look to You, I know who You are and who I am in You. I can find peace, just loving You and praising You, even in times when I don't feel contented.

Thank You for giving me the grace to rise above any and every situation that I face.

I pray these blessings, in the beautiful and matchless name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, SO BE IT Amen and Amen.

Father, I give all praise and glory to Your most Holy name. Help me today as I seek contentment in everything I do.

No matter what journey I have to travel, I want to be contented, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Where I fall short Abba Father, pick me up, and lead me to victory. I choose to walk with you, always.

James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Lord God I ask for peace and contentment in my life. I ask for freedom from financial worries. I ask from freedom from people in my life who don't mean me well. I ask for good health and good mental stability. I ask you to keep your hands on me and my family from harm.

Keep me and my family free from drugs and alcohol. Help me to stay positive and encouraging to others. Lord God help me get a nice home somewhere safe and make sure I'm able to take care of it the rest of my life. In Jesus name I pray!!! Amen

Dear heavenly Father, these verses are as familiar to me as sunrise and sunset; and yet, like the magnificent way you paint the morning and evening skyline, I can easily ignore the wonder of these words. First and foremost, I bless and adore you for being a Father who will never fail or abandon his children; and, secondly, for being a God who studies our needs, and who answers those needs with riches, not pittance. You are so present and loving, kind and generous.

Accordingly, Father, like Paul, I do want to learn more about contentment. For the more content I am, the more present I'll be in relationshipsnot stressing or even thinking about what I don't have; and the more generous I'll becomefor I'll be quicker to acknowledge that everything I have, I've received as a gift from you; and the more flexible and spontaneous I'll be in serving younot being defined by or anchored to my creature comforts.

Father, growth in contentment is growth in grace, so supersize the chambers of my heart to receive more of your grace. Rescue me from my pathetically small notions of your love and goodness. Free me from the stranglehold of my unbelief; revealed in the fear I have in even praying for contentment. Liberate me for being, not just satisfied in Christ, but overwhelmed, smitten and in awe of every good thing you have given us in Jesus. So very Amen I pray, in Jesus' powerful and beautiful name.

Contentment is a simple grace. It is certainly reasonable and logical.

It is our Father's world, so we should rest in His care. While many of us desire to be content, it is not easily attained or kept. For, no sooner than we begin to enjoy the grace of contentment, it is gone and dissatisfaction returns. Start your day off with the prayer for contentment:
Dear God, I pray that I will stay focused on You today. I pray that You will constantly remind me to be content in all of my circumstances. I pray that You will fill me up that I may be joyful all day, even if stress creeps in. I know that through my contentment, You will be glorified. I want to honor You, Father, in all that I do. Amen.

he morning is one of the best times to have an encounter with God. Pray the moment you wake up if you aren't already doing so. When you wake up with God, His presence is carried with you wherever you go. May you be blessed on your journey today.
