Prayer For Confirmands
Holy Father, Your word tells me that if I seek You, I will find You if I look for You with all my heart and with all my soul. I have sought You with all my heart and I know that I must confirm my faith to You because You are my God. Thank You for being merciful. I know that You will not abandon or destroy me or forget the covenant with my forefathers. Thank You, Lord, for being faithful to me, uphold me as I complete this act of faith to You, Amen.
God of Creation, I thank You for Your Scriptures that are appropriate reminders for me as a confirmation candidate. I acknowledge and take to heart this day that You are God in heaven above and on earth below. There is no other. Therefore, I will keep Your decrees and commands which You have given to me, so it may go well with me and my children after me and that I may live long in the places and positions that You have given me, Amen.
Heavenly Father,
We raise our confirmands to you, Blessed Lord, for your care. We rejoice in their faith journey and ask you to be their guide, guardian, and help. Let them feel the love of their church family as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Reveal to them your plan your good, perfect, and pleasing will for their lives. Surround them with your Holy Spirit, instilling in each the confidence only you can provide.
Gracious God, help us to live as your role models for our youth. Give us the wisdom, strength, and courage to walk uprightly, to do your will, to reflect the love of Jesus in all circumstances. Help us make good choices. Let us continue to grow in faith, to commit to study of your word, and share the good news of the Gospel with these young men and all your children.
You have richly blessed our church family and we are grateful for all you have done. We give you honor, glory, and praise. Let our worship be pleasing and our works be fruitful so we can expand your kingdom here on earth.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
Spirit of God, grant me:
The gift of wisdom
To see the world through your eyes,
The gift of counsel
To make difficult decisions,
The gifts of knowledge and understanding
To use my mind to know you and to love you,
The gift of fortitude
To have the courage to live in the faith
Despite the difficulties and disappointments,
The gift of piety
To be able to express my special love
And commitment to you,
And the right kind of awesome fear
That makes me pause to wonder and revere
God's Love.
Amen.
O God, I pray that you give me a right heart,
that I may come to know you in Jesus.
Lead me to know the sinfulness of my own heart,
and your great love for me,
in Christ Jesus.
Help those who teach me,
to give me the teaching I need.
Grant that, on my Confirmation Day,
I may be ready to give myself to be your faithful
soldier
and servant to my life's end;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people, so
that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.
Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to
Your voice. Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfilment
the good work that You have begun in them.
As we prepare these children for Confirmation, make each of us an
instrument of Your love. Teach us to appreciate what is holy in
others, and to be patient with what we do not understand.
Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help us to pass it on by our
example. We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
O Lord, how awesome You are! I am so grateful for this day that I can take a step deeper into my relationship with You. I thank You for loving me enough to send Your Son into the world, not to condemn me; but that I, through Him might be saved. Lord, I give You my heart, my mind and my soul for these things all belong to You. I have been changed for the better because of You which is why I choose to stand today at this confirmation service, Amen.
God of Power, I thank You for this time of joy, hope and celebration. This is a day of deepening my faith and growing as a follower of You, I pray that I continue to be strengthened in my relationship with You. I thank You because I have not received a spirit that makes me a fearful slave, but in my relationship with You, I have received Your Spirit when You adopted me as Your own child. Now I call You, Abba, Father. Amen.
