Prayer For Confirmation Candidates And Sponsors
God of all ages, You send out your Spirit to touch the hearts of people
so that they may believe in you and in Jesus, whom You sent.
Loving, gracious God, send your Holy Spirit upon me.
Make me an instrument of your love.
Make me more aware of the many ways of Your presence.
Teach me to reverence what is holy in others,
and to be patient with what I do not understand.
Deepen my faith in the gospel, and help me to pass it on by good example.
With those who are hesitant or afraid,
let me be a source of encouragement.
And with those who are weak, let me be a pillar of strength.
I humbly accept the ministry of sponsor and pray that You will continue to
guide and sustain me in this important role.
Bless us on our journey.
Open our ears to always listen;
Our mouths to always speak our feelings, our reflections;
Our hands to reach out to others;
Our hearts to grow closer to you and all in Your family.
Lord, send Your Holy Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
I praise you through Christ our Lord. Amen
Spirit of Life, You give us Yourself present through Jesus, a commoner, a teacher, a healer, a family member, a
neighbor, a miracle worker, a human, God. This person, whom You loved most, was a sign, an example, and a
sacrifice. Let us remember to keep the story alive by becoming a people of loving action, following on the path
that was laid for us. Amen.
Unceasing Spirit, You wash away our emptiness and welcome us into Your community. You forgive our
brokenness and accept us as people who make mistakes. You invite us to Your table and share Your life with us.
Spirit, You move in us, guiding us toward You, through relationships, through connections and commitments.
We are not only driven by You, but find comfort and rest in You as well. It is by Your constant presence that we
are made whole. Amen.
All-powerful God, Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, by water and the Holy
Spirit you freed your sons and daughters from sin and gave them new life.
Send your Holy Spirit upon them to be their Helper and Guide. Give them
the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of right judgment and
courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence. Fill them with the spirit
of wonder and awe in your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Grant, we pray, almighty and merciful God,
that the Holy Spirit, coming near
and dwelling graciously within us,
may make of us a perfect temple of his glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Confirm, O God,
what you have brought about in us,
and preserve in the hearts of your faithful
the gifts of the Holy Spirit:
may they never be ashamed
to confess Christ crucified before the world
and by devoted charity
may they ever fulfill his commands.
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

God our Father,
complete the work you have begun and keep the gifts of your Holy Spirit active in the hearts of your people. Make them ready to live his Gospel and eager
to do his will. May they never be ashamed to proclaim to all the world Christ crucified living and reigning for ever and ever.

Holy Spirit, strengthen ____________________ with your gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord to serve as a disciple of Christ. Grant that s/he may grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Fill her/him with the joy of your presence. Increase in her/him the fruit of your Spirit. Help him/her to experience and trust your dwelling within, so that he/she can count on your guidance today and every day. Show us the way to help one another become better disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing your love with our world and with each person we meet.
