Prayer For Rape Victims

Dear God of endless love,
ever caring, ever strong,
always present, always just:
You gave your only Son
to save us by the Blood of His Cross.
Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace,
Join our anguishing souls to your own suffering
the pain of all who have been hurt
in Body, Mind, and Spirit
by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.
Hear our cries as we agonize
over the harm done to our brothers and sisters.
Breathe wisdom into our prayers,
soothe restless hearts with hope,
steady shaken spirits with faith:
Show us the way to justice and wholeness,
enlightened by truth and enfolded in your mercy.
Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts,
heal your people's wounds
and transform our brokenness.
Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace,
so that we may act with justice
and find peace in you.
We ask this Healing through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Isaiah 43:2-3a: When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God.

Isaiah 61: 1-3: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind. 2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of God's favor to them has come, and the day of his wrath to their enemies. 3 To all who mourn in Israel he will give: beauty for ashes; joy instead of mourning; praise instead of heaviness.

Your love surrounds me when my thoughts wage war
When night screams terror, there Your voice will roar
Come death or shadow, God I know Your light will meet me there
When fear comes knocking, there You'll be my guard
When day breeds trouble, there You'll hold my heart
Come storm or battle, God I know Your peace will meet me there
Again and again
Oh, be still my heart
I know that You are God.

Lord, there is a time for mercy, and there is a time for justice!

Please rise up a tidal wave of truth and shine a light on all those, who have perpetuated any kind of sexual crime including verbal harassment, molestation, rape and sexual assault.

Bring perpetrators to the fullness of justice.

Hold them accountable legally and emotionally for the pain they've caused innocent people.

Take away their positions of power in the world and by any means, prevent them from ever committing another sexually violent act, verbally or physically.

Take the burden of shame, silence and secrecy off of the innocent victims and place it squarely onto the shoulders of the perpetrators, where it belongs.

Bring them to their knees in full realization of the horrific pain they've caused and the lives they have destroyed.

Give them the grace of true, lasting, deep and authentic repentance to be forever changed in heart, mind, attitude and habit. Surround them with the support they need to transform into the person You created them to be so they can begin to make amends for all the wrongs they have committed.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen.

Let my anger not turn inward to self-loathing,
but outward for action and purpose: to help others like me,
to bring hope to those whose faith is not so strong.
Help me, with your grace,
to move beyond victim, to call myself survivor instead.

May you forgive this man's offence against me,
and grant me the peace and serenity
of a mind and body made whole again.
Amen.

Loving God, I know that you hold me in the palm of your hand.
I know it is so.
But why, O Lord, why?
I rage at this sin against me, at this defilement of my body,
this assault on my peace of mind.

I mourn my lost serenity, security, confidence;
I mourn the loss of my ease and open nature.
I hate what this assault has done to me.
I feel that my body and soul may never be the same.
What has been forced upon me may not be forgotten.
But send your healing upon me like cool rain.
Soothe my spirit with the balm of your tender love.
Help me to feel secure again, as safe as ever within the shelter
of the Lord. Amen

Compassionate and merciful Father, I thank you for this day. I thank you for the sunshine. I thank you for the shining of your son Jesus, whose Light shines in us and through us, touching every layer of our beings, body, mind and spirit. I thank you for all of the days of peace and love and light that you have given me in the past and I thank you for all of the days of peace and love and light that are to come.Silhouette of Praying Woman

I thank you for the gifts of the Holy Spirit that you gave me at Baptism: Faith and Hope and Love. Knowlege and Wisdom and Discernment. And Healing. Increase these gifts in me now, Lord. I have been hurt and broken, and I am a leaky vessel right now. I need constant filling. I know You love to help me, Lord, so help me now.

Heal me from the hurt. Restore me to wholeness.

I see myself whole and healed, radiant with Your Love. Serving You.

I pray this prayer in the Name of Jesus and in the Power of the Holy spirit and I say, amen, it will be so. Amen
