Prayer For Plants

God bless the soil

Rich and teeming with life,

May we see in its fertility the promise of new creation.

God bless our toil

As we dig deep to turn the soil,

May we see in our labour your call to be good stewards.

God bless each seed

That takes root and grows,

May we see in their flourishing the hope of transformation.

God bless the rains

That water our efforts to bring forth life,

May we see in their constancy God's faithful care.

God bless the harvest

Abundant and bountiful in season,

May we see in God's generosity our need to share.

God bless this garden

As you bless all creation with your love,

May we see in its glory your awesome majesty.

Amen.

Eternal Father,
maker of heaven and earth,
we bless you and give you glory.
Bless + this seed, and make It fruitful.
Look upon our work this season,
and grant that the seeds we plant
will produce plentiful crops,
providing food and work for many.
In your love, give us favorable weather
throughout this growing season.
Make us truly grateful for all our gifts,
and willing to share our goods and talents with others,
especially those without adequate food.
All praise and glory are yours, almighty Father,
through your Son Jesus Christ,
In the unity of the Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessed are You, Lord God,

creator of the universe.

You are the giver and sustainer of life,

bringing forth the fruits of the earth

to feed and nourish Your people.

We cultivate the land and sow the seed,

but you alone, Lord, can give the growth.

Let Your blessing lie upon this land,

bringing gentle rains and ripening sun

for a joyful harvest.

Give us the grace to use Your gifts well,

that the poor may be fed

and the hungry filled with good things.

Then and always shall we give You glory,

Father of all. Amen.

Dear Lord, You are wonderful in everything you do.
In marvelous ways You take the full,
rich life of the plant and carefully fold it into tiny seeds.
You form the seeds according to many different shapes and sizes and colors,
so that man can know what kind of growth will come of them. When
they are placed the earth they may look dry and dead,
but when they are watered by the life-giving rain and nourished by the warm sun,
they lose all their lifeless look and grow in an almost miraculous manner.
By the power You gave them,
they take the dead minerals of the earth and build up the nourishing,
tasty foods that men need to sustain life. Amen

This week, dear Lord,
we will plant these seeds of (wheat, corn, or whatever it may be)
that You have given us.
Bless them, and watch over them,
and bring them to the full growth and rich harvest
that You wish to bless us with.

But, should You not allow them to come to full harvest,
we accept Your will humbly.
We trust that You will nevertheless watch over us
and make the seeds of grace that You have given us
grow to flower and fruit in the full Christian life
that You intend for us here and hereafter.

Amen.

Divine Mystery, assist me
to be a wise gardener,
who, with great care, will sow
only goood seeds this day,
those deeds and attitutdes
that truly will give you glory.

If by habit, sloth or accident,
I might sow an evil seed,
in haste, before it takes root,
may I pluck it up at once,
lest it grow an evil harvest.

Ancient earth,
our mystical mother,
teach us, your children,
that all things die
to nourish life.

Gentle earth,
be blessed with our love
as we work in you.

Make us mindful that one day
you will be our final bed
of love and ecstasy.
Amen

Lord of Creation,
who planted Your own garden called Eden,
come and bless this soil
which is to be our garden.

All that dies becomes earth,
and so it lives again.

May this garden soil
be both womb and tomb,
a home for death and life,
so that seeds of living things
of plants, of food and flowers
may die and resurrect
here in our garden.
