Prayer For Persecuted Church
Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds
anything we can understand. His peace will guard your
hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Father God, truly only You know how these men and women feel at this time. We cannot know exactly what they are living through right now. The world seems to be getting more dangerous every day Lord, and maybe for these men and women who might live with that fear. In Your sovereign providence, it pleased You to call out some of these in their darkest hours, and to become new creations in Christ (2nd Cor 5:17); to a new life in Christ. Help see that they can run to You Father, for You are a Rock and a Shield to those Who trust in You. In Your great wisdom God, You sometimes use hard places to soften hearts, and in such darkness, your grace is more amazing. Not many of us are great in the eyes of the world, but You have no respect for persons. You reach out to those who humble themselves Father, so help them submit to You and be set free from their fear by trusting in You. May You receive all the glory for these men and women's lives that've trusted in You, and in the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray, amen.
God, you know
The plight of people far away
Oppressed by governments and vigilantes
In places
Where Christianity is an unpopular choice.
God, you knew
That the day would come here
When truth-telling would be despised
And siding with the oppressed
Part of the road less travelled. Amen
O God, who in your inscrutable providence will that the Church be united to the sufferings of your Son, grant we pray, to your faithful who suffer for your name's sake a spirit of patience and charity, that they may be found true and faithful witnesses to the promises you have made. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
I pray that persecuted Christians will understand and find peace in the sufficiency of God's grace, even in their weaknesses. Amen
Loving Lord, we lift up our brothers and sisters that are being persecuted in so many places in our world and in so many inhumane ways. Lord, we lift up all new converts, all those who have accepted the Lord Jesus as their Saviour, knowing that they will have to face possible rejection and even persecution from family, friends and the communities in which they live.
Guide and protect them we pray, from all assaults of the enemy, in body soul and spirit. Lord, we ask that You would keep them from harm, and provide all that they need to sustain their lives. And Father, please provide the spiritual food that they need to grow in You and mature in their faith, so that their trust in You becomes strong and they are able to withstand the fiery darts of the enemy.
Give them the courage to face the future, knowing that You are with them and in them, and Father we thank You that You are growing Your church with the dear new converts to Christ. Be with them always I pray,
Amen.
Father, the last thing I would pray is that they would know supernaturally even at this moment they would know someone is praying for them, that they're not alone, they're not forgotten, but that they are being prayed for right even at this moment. Lord, we thank you again for their example.
I pray for the American Church as we remember the International Day of Prayer, as we join hands to pray for persecuted Christians, let them inspire us and let this become a regular part of our prayer lives to lift up those who are in prison, those who are being persecuted for their faith in Christ. In Jesus name, amen.
Virgin most powerful, loving helper of the Christian people, how great thanks do we not owe thee for the assistance thou didst give our fathers, who, when they were threatened by the Turkish infidels, invoked thy maternal help by the devout recitation of thy Rosary! From heaven thou didst see their deadly peril; thou didst hear their voices imploring thy compassion; and their humble prayers, enjoined by the great Pope, Saint Pius the Fifth, were acceptable unto thee, and thou camest quickly to deliver them. Grant, dear Mother, that in like manner the prolonged sighs of the holy Bride of Christ in these our days may come to thy throne and engage thy pity; do thou, moved anew to compassion for her, rise once again to deliver her from the many foes who encompass her on every side.
Even now from the four quarters of the earth there arises to thy throne that lovd prayer, to win thy mercy in these troublous times even as of old. Unhappily our sins hinder, or at least retard, its effect. Wherefore, dear Mother, obtain for us true sorrow for our sins and a firm resolution to face death itself rather than return to our former iniquities; we are sore distressed that, through our fault, thy help, of which we stand in such extreme need, should be denied or come too late.
Rise, then, O Mary, incline thyself to hear the prayers of the whole Catholic world, and beat flat to the ground the pride of those wretched men, who in their insolence blaspheme Almighty God and would destroy His Church, against which, according to the infallible words of Christ, the gates of hell shall never prevail. Let it be seen once more that when thou dost arise to protect the Church, her victory is sure. Amen.
