Prayer For Peace In Our Country
War's trumpets have once again been sounded;
War's tools fly about like thieves in the night
to kill and destroy,
O God of true and lasting peace,
long have we cried for wars and violence to cease
long have we pleaded for peace and harmony to reign
long have we sought for justice to dwell
in our world.
Yet there is no rest from war's alarm and deadly pestilence.
We ask of you to hear our prayers
so that the current tension in the Middle East
may not escalate further,
and that the rhetoric of war
may not result in the actual conduct of war. Amen
We pray for the protection of innocent lives
especially our Overseas Filipino Workers
and those of other lands,
who, because of dire economic condition and
circumstance, had been forced to seek jobs
outside of their own lands.
May the peace on earth and goodwill among people,
that the angels sang about,
truly become not just a mere hope,
but a reality that is lived
among peoples and nations.
We ask this in the name of the Prince of Peace, Jesus.
Amen.
You, Lord, are our Rock and our Salvation. Stand with us so that we are strong in doing Your work in the world. Unite us toward a common goal of peace and prosperity for all.
Amen
Source and Shelter,
Grant safety and security to all nations,
So that harmony and blessings resound
From the four corners of the earth.
Blessed are You, God of All,
Forging nations and peoples
In the crucible of change
Throughout history.
May this time of challenge for the nations of the Middle East
Become a blessing for all inhabitants and for the world. Amen
O bless this people, Lord,
who seek their own face under the mask and can hardly recognize it.
O bless this people that breaks its bond
And with them, all the peoples of Europe,
All the peoples of Asia,
All the peoples of America
Who sweat blood and sufferings.
And see, in the midst of these millions of waves,
The sea swell of the heads of my people.
And grant to their warm hands that they may clasp
The earth in a girdle of brotherly hands
Beneath the rainbow of thy peace. Amen
Lord,
How quickly we have forgotten
The days when we were strangers
To this soil and to your Kingdom --
Not only strangers, but unrepentant enemies
Spiritually -- bent on remaining as we were
Socially -- determined to mark every tree that we passed
In our neighbors' backyard.
Yet you loved us all
In spite of us all.
Teach us, O God, your ways.
Exchange our impulse to devour and destroy
For your impulse to turn swords into plowshares and pruning hooks.
Teach us how to love enemies, to do good to those who hate us (Luke 6:27)
and to love strangers as we love ourselves (Leviticus 19:34).
Until
Strangers become friends
And enemies become neighbors. Amen.
O Loving God, your Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world to do your Will and leave us His Peace. Through the intercession and example of our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Peace, grant us the wisdom and humility to reflect that peace to the world. Inspire our thoughts, words and deeds to bear witness to your presence in our hearts. May your Holy Spirit fill us with every grace and blessing so that we may pursue what leads to peace for all humanity. Amen
May we hear the words of this compassionate God and the Prince of Peace to act upon the healing of ourselves and our communities to bring peace and reconciliation into the world Amen
