Prayer For Peace In America

Lord Jesus,
cast forth the shadow of your cross over peoples at war;
may they learn the way of reconciliation, dialogue and forgiveness;
let the peoples so wearied by bombing experience the joy of your resurrection:
raise up Iraq and Syria from devastation;
reunite your dispersed children under your gentle kingship:
sustain Christians in the Diaspora and grant them the unity of faith and love.

O Virgin Mary, Queen of peace,
you who stood at the foot of the cross,
obtain from your Son pardon for our sins;
you who never doubted the victory of his resurrection,
sustain our faith and our hope;
you who are enthroned as Queen in glory,
teach us the royal road of service and the glory of love.

Amen.

Lord Jesus,
we adore your cross
which frees us from sin, the origin of every division and evil;
we proclaim your resurrection,
which ransoms man from the slavery of failure and death;
we await your coming in glory,
which will bring to fulfillment your kingdom of justice, joy and peace. Amen

I rejoiced when they said to me,

"Let us go to the house of the LORD."

And now our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem.

Jerusalem, built as a city, walled round about.

Here the tribes have come,

the tribes of the LORD,

As it was decreed for Israel,

to give thanks to the name of the LORD.

Here are the thrones of justice,

the thrones of the house of David.

For the peace of Jerusalem pray:

"May those who love you prosper!

May peace be within your ramparts,

prosperity within your towers."

For family and friends I say,

"May peace be yours."

For the house of the LORD, our God, I pray, "May blessings be yours.

Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle, the strength to be forgiving, the patience to be understanding, and the endurance to accept the consequences of holding to we believe to be right.

May we put our trust in the power of good to overcome evil and the power of love to overcome hatred. We pray for the vision to see and the faith to believe in a world emancipated from violence...

Help us to devote our whole life, thought and energy to the task of making peace, praying always for the inspiration and the power to fulfill the destiny for which we were created. Amen

Lord, please help us as a people. Please guide us toward You. Please give peace and Your love to anyone struggling and suffering right now. There is so much pain, frustration and sadness. I pray for the family and loved ones of George Floyd. I pray for our communities, which are reeling from tragedy. I pray for those who feel discounted, disconnected and downtrodden. Lord, we ask for Your peace and strength as we journey through these times. Please ease the grief of every person who is struggling to comprehend these circumstances and events. We ask for Your healing touch. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Almighty God, Who has given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will. Bless our land with honorable ministry, sound learning, and pure manners.

Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues.

Endow with Thy spirit of wisdom those to whom in Thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth.

In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Now, Lord, come to our aid! Grant us peace, teach us peace; guide our steps in the way of peace. Open our eyes and our hearts, and give us the courage to say: Never again violence!; With violence everything is lost. Instill in our hearts the courage to take concrete steps to achieve peace.
Lord God of peace, hear our prayer!
Lord, God of Abraham, God of the Prophets, God of Love, you created us and you call us to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be instruments of peace; enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our brother or sister. Make us sensitive to the plea of our citizens who entreat us to turn our weapons of violence into implements of peace and our quarreling into forgiveness. Amen

O God of peace, healing and justice.
We pray for all whose lives have been marred by the events of the past weeks in the city of Ferguson. Many are the losses that have been experienced: the death of a young manthe destruction of property- a community's reputation belittled.
May those who mourn be comforted.
May those who in the months ahead work to rebuild this community be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We make this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord, who came to heal the wounds of sin and division. Amen.
