Prayer For Our Nation On Election Day

Loving God, creator of this world who is the source of our wisdom and understanding, watch over this nation during this time of election. Help us to see how our faith informs our principles and actions.

We give thanks for the right to vote. Help us to hold this privilege and responsibility with the care and awareness it merits, realizing that our vote matters and that it is an act of faith.

Guide us through this election as a nation, state, and community as we vote for people to do work on our behalf and on the behalf of our communities. Help us to vote for people and ballot initiatives that will better our community and our world so it may reflect the values Christ taught us. Amen

Come Lord Jesus, be our guest,
Stay with us for day this day.

With friend, with stranger,
With young and with old,
Be among us.

Come close to us that we may come close to you.
Forgive us that we may forgive one another.
Renew us so that, where we have failed,
We may begin again. Amen.

Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of our nation in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heavenly King, I ask for your protection at this time of the election. Protect us from any harm which may result from the chaos of unexpected results. Let all the polling stations be safe and may the police do their work perfectly by maintaining order in the stations. Protect the candidates and their families that they may not be targets of assault. Let all the people finish the voting process and go back to their homes and wait for the results. We rely on your peace. Amen.

Mighty God, Elections are widely known to wreak havoc in a nation and we pray that it may not happen. Let peace be our shield. Let the church help in preaching peace and harmony among the people of our nation. Let the media give a positive influence that promotes togetherness when choosing our leaders. We count on you. Amen.

Dear Father,

We know You are not surprised nor fearful any day and so You are no different on election day. We praise You for being the One worthy of our trust. Today we pray for wisdom for our leaders, for the discretion of Your people, and the unity of our country. No matter the election results, we long to acknowledge the truth of Your Word. May our worries rest in Your promises, may our thoughts be wrapped in Your steadfast love alone, and may our hearts be unified to further Your kingdom.

Amen.

We thank you for the many freedoms we enjoy in this countryfor the rights to worship, to speak, and to assemble. We thank you for the part we can play in self-government by casting our votes today. We confess we are often discouraged by the choices before us. Shape us by your truth so that realistic discouragement does not give way to cynicism and hopelessness.

Despite our many failings and sins as a nation, we pray that in your mercy you would give us better leaders, legislators, and judges than we deserve. May those elected to public office in America be men and women of high character, good judgment, and uncommon ability. May their policies promote human flourishing and protect the lives of the most vulnerable at home and abroad. Amen

Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. Hab. 3:2

Whoever your candidate of choice may be, we can rest in this - God has a plan. He's not pacing heaven's floors, worried about who will win or what the latest polls show. He's called us to pray, to be salt and light, and to have a voice. We can trust that the outcome is in His hands.

Remembering this truth on which our nation was founded. We are "One Nation under God."

Our hope comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth. Amen
