Prayer For Our Nation Election
We ask for your blessing that we might continue to be a free and prosperous people. And if you do not mean to bless us as a country, empower the church to remain faithful and steadfast in the midst of judgment.
Grant us the courage to stand up for what is right, the strength to try to make a difference, and the gospel-formed humility to accept that there are no Messiahs except for Jesus and no heaven on earth except the one awaiting us at the end of the age.
Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly. Amen.
Father of lights, we thank you for every good and perfect gift. We praise you as the one with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change (James 1:17).
As we come to this Election Day, we ask for wisdom, knowing that you love to give generously to all without reproach (James 1:8).
Forgive us for all the times, especially during this campaign, where we have been quick to speak and slow to listen. Forgive us for too often exhibiting the anger of man that does not produce the righteousness of God. May we put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word (James 1:19-21).
We pray for discernment
so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word,
live your love,
and keep in the ways of your truth
as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles
and guide us to your Kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen
We thank You for Your law,
Which our Founding Fathers acknowledged
And recognized as higher than any human law.
We thank You for the opportunity that this election year
puts before us,
To exercise our solemn duty not only to vote,
But to influence countless others to vote,
And to vote correctly.
Lord, we pray that Your people may be awakened.
Let them realize that while politics is not their
Their response to You requires that they be politically
Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of the
United States (or of this community) in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful
administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your
purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord, continue to guide us as we work for the welfare of this world. We pray for places that are torn by
violence, that they may know peace. We pray for communities who are struggling with inequality, unrest, and fear. May we all work toward reconciliation with one another and with God.
We give thanks for the right to vote. Help us to hold this privilege and responsibility with the care and
awareness it merits, realizing that our vote matters and that it is an act of faith. Help us create communities that will build your kingdom here on earth communities that will protect the poor, stand up for the vulnerable, advocate for those who are not seen and heard, and listen to everyone's voice.
Loving God, creator of this world who is the source of our wisdom and understanding, watch over this
nation during this time of election. Help us to see how our faith informs our principles and actions. Guide us through this election as a nation, state, and community as we vote for people to do work on our behalf and on the behalf of our communities. Help us to vote for people and ballot initiatives that will
better our community and our world so it may reflect the values Christ taught us.
