Prayer For February
Almighty God, I pray for the will to do my finest work. Disclose to me if I am being detained by serving selfishness in myself or in others. Lead me to what is right for me to do; and may I diligently tarry in it. Amen.
Our days, O God, are often spent in the midst of a world that is filled with the mystery of human weakness. We experience bewilderment and disorder as we attempt to decipher the contradictions of mind and spirit. Many of our brothers and sisters often give up hope of rediscovering peace of mind and right judgment. With the help of your divine grace, O Lord, help us to understand that our daily life not to be understood as conflict and confusion, but rather as an opportunity to grow in tranquility and holiness. This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, Heavenly Father, it was part of Thine eternal decree that Thine only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, should form a holy family with Mary, His blessed mother, and His foster father, Saint Joseph. In Nazareth, home life was sanctified, and a perfect example was given to every Christian family. Grant, we beseech Thee, that we may fully comprehend and faithfully imitate the virtues of the Holy Family so that we may be united with them one day in their heavenly glory. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Grant unto us, Lord Jesus, ever to follow the example of Thy holy Family, that in the hour of our death Thy glorious Virgin Mother together with blessed Joseph may come to meet us and we may be worthily received by Thee into everlasting dwellings: who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
The Virtue for the Month of February is
love. This means that we endeavor to
develop in ourselves the habit of
thinking, speaking and acting from an
attitude of care and positive regard in
all our encounters and circumstances.
We become aware of our negative
moods, and choose not to act out of
them. We choose to set aside the harsh
word. We refuse to allow our anger to
inhibit our compassion or capacity to
forgive. We deliberately search for
ways to be helpful to others in our
families, in our classrooms, in our social gatherings, and extracurricular
events.
That an awareness of God's love will help us to bring an attitude of
love to the whole of our existence. We pray to You, Lord. (Response:
Lord, hear our prayer)
That as we launch out on a new school semester we will allow our love
of learning, and the love in our community to expand and flourish. We
pray to You, Lord. (Response)
Let us pray an Our Father together.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Dear Father in heaven, we thank you that you lead us on all our paths. Together we praise your name. We plead with you, stay with us, especially when the world grows darker. Stay with us and send down your power. Send your power in answer to our prayers. For all people we pray, Father in heaven, these are our brothers and sisters in spite of their failures and sins. Help them, O God. May they soon come to recognize who you are, what you do, and what you will still do, so that the whole world can be joyful and all people on earth may know the blessing of being your children. Amen.
Lord our God, we thank you that we may be your children and may be led by your hand. Give us patience and faith, especially when our way on earth seems difficult and life is full of grief and hardship. You are light. You show us the right path. You go before us in the self-denial and patience taught us by your Word. Protect us on all our ways. May your kingdom grow among us until it can be plainly seen that you, O God, are truly with us doing your work and bringing us joy, even though what we do seems fruitless. But your work endures. In your work we rejoice, and we want to give thanks to you every day. Amen.
Lord Jesus, you traveled a hard and lonely road with Mary and Joseph.
As a child, they carried you to a foreign land to escape the wrath of Herod.
Lord, may we see you present in the migrants and refugees who knock at the doors of our nation.
Open our ears to hear the cry of the poor, the weak, the weary and wounded, the children and newborns and tiny babies still in the womb!
Open our hearts! Give us hearts like Your Sacred Heart large, and warm and welcoming.
Lord, even if we cannot welcome everyone, help us to welcome someone even one child, one family in need.
Holy Family, help us to pray and work for justice and mercy in a broken world.
Amen.
