Prayer For Families Who Have Lost A Loved One
Heavenly Father,
Please shine your light upon my family.
Give us strength to overcome all of the
difficulties that we are dealing with now
and protect us against any and all problems
we may encounter in the future.
O Lord, please bring us together as we
are meant to be. May the love that binds
us only grow stronger as we fulfill the destiny
you have laid out for us.
Grant my family forgiveness for any sins we
have committed. May we also forgive one
another Lord, as it is sometimes difficult to do.

Heavenly Father,
I am broken, with my heart in pieces and my future dreams shattered. I crawl into your care, to hide beneath your mighty wings of love. Here I find a place to rest, a space of acceptance and submission.
I will dwell here, for as long as it takes, to find each small fragment of me. And I trust that you, my loving Father, can piece together the puzzle of my life. Lord, with your extraordinary patience and love, come and restore me.
So I rest here. I close my eyes and dwell with you.
Dear Abba Father,
I am empty, I am at a loss, I am drowning in sorrow. I come to you, as your child. I feel small, I feel overwhelmed, I feel frightened.
Please shine your light into this grief and guide my thoughts to find the promises of eternity. Carry me in this hard time, cover my life with yours, shelter me until I can find the strength to stand again. Thank you for your love, your grace, your promise.
I nestle into your care and trust that I can let my loved one go to you, safe in your arms, as I am.

Creator God, thank you that you made the universe and everything in it. You made mankind in your own image and have promised an inheritance of eternal life. I thank you for the life of my loved one, the love I received from him/her, and the memories that I cherish of him/her. I rejoice in your promises of pardon, joy and peace to all those who love you. Show me mercy in my grief and give me joy through your Holy Spirit. Comfort me in my grief, Lord. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
O Lord, my God, you are my refuge and strength in times of trouble. Meet me in my sorrow and lift my eyes to the peace and light of your compassionate hand. You have promised that you are near to the brokenhearted and close to those who are crushed in spirit. Draw near to me, Lord, and may I find comfort in your presence. Give rest to my troubled heart and replace my fear with faith. You are eternally gracious, merciful and caring. Send your Holy Spirit to comfort me in the light of your glory and grace. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Father, teach me to help those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. My tendency is to try and "fix" the problem when someone is hurting. Help me remember that I can't fix the problem I can't speak the right words that will make everything better but I can be there. I can listen. I can pray. I can mourn with them. May the love and compassion of Jesus flow through me. In Jesus' name.
My heart is feels like a thousand knives are running through it. I am weary, spent, and just so sad. Please, help me! Hear my prayers. Hold me and my family up. Give us strength. Be present. Be persistent in your love. Carry us through this heartache. Sustain us. Bring us joy and hope.
Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the comfort of your love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. May their memories become joyful, their days enriched with friendship, and their lives encircled by your love.
