Scripture Reading
Isaiah 55:1-3
"Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live."
Reflection
God's invitation in Isaiah is irresistibly generous: come without money, come with nothing but thirst, and eat what truly satisfies. Lent exposes how much we spend on bread that does not satisfy — distraction, status, comfort, noise. The fast creates space for the deeper hunger to surface, and in that hunger God sets his table. "Eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food." The feast of grace is free.
Prayer for Today
Loving Father, thank you that you are the light of the world, guiding my steps on your path. As I set off on this journey, please guide my steps. You have said that in all things at all times, you will supply all that I need. Please give me the mercy and grace I need as I travel. Remind me that you are with me everywhere that I go. Deliver me from every evil work, and preserve me towards your heavenly kingdom. To you be glory, forever and ever. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Amen.
