Prayer For Wednesday Morning
Blessed are you, Lord, our God,
Giver of life,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
At the opening of this day
you call us out of darkness
into your marvellous light.
Blessed are you for ever and ever.
Amen.
O God, whose hand hath spread the sky
And all its shining hosts on high,
And painting it with fiery light,
Made it so beauteous and so bright:
Who, on the fourth day, didst reveal
The sun's enkindled flaming wheel,
Didst set the moon her ordered ways,
And stars their ever-winding maze;
That each in its appointed way
Might separate the night from day,
And of the seasons through the year
The well-remembered signs declare:
Illuminate our hearts within,
And cleanse our minds from stain of sin;
Unburdened of our guilty load
May we unfettered serve our God.
O Father, that we ask be done,
Through Jesus Christ, thine only Son;
Who, with the Holy Ghost and thee,
Do live and reign eternally. Amen.
Heavenly Father,
Bless (name) and keep him (her) in Your love.
Grant him (her) a good rest tonight,
And send Your angels to protect him (her).
In the Name of the Father,
And the + Son,
And of the Holy Spirit.
Amen
O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
O God, who from the family of your servant David raised up Joseph to be the guardian of your incarnate Son and the spouse of his virgin mother: Give us grace to imitate his uprightness of life and his obedience to your commands; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Father God,
Thank You for this Wednesday. Father, we are all guilty of looking so far ahead into the future that we forget to slow down and just be still in Your presence. Lord, help us to not merely try and rush through this Wednesday; rather, help us to linger in You.
Lord, teach us the beauty of resting in You. Teach us what holy rest truly looks like. Beyond just sleep or lounging, we know that resting securely in You forms a peace that goes beyond understanding and provides a true refreshment, and so we pray this day for Your holy rest upon us.
Knowing that each season in our lives holds significant meaning and perfect timing, we can rest assured that You use all things. As easy as it can be to fall into routines and ruts, we ask that You heighten our senses to embrace and appreciate these days. These days are not mundane, for they are Your days that You have chosen for us to live in. Help us to live to the fullest and to rest to the fullest. We praise Your holy name, oh Lord.
Amen
For those who stand firm
when faith is tested,
or in the face of
persecution
are not afraid
to confess your name,
we give thanks
for courage shown,
and ask for strength
to follow their example.
For faithful saints
of every age
who with Paul declare
to live is Christ
and to die is gain,
bless their sacrifice,
and all whose faith
has been born
or strengthened
by being in their presence.
A word of confession:
When our faith is weak
you strengthen us,
when we lose our way
you rescue us,
when we fall into sin
you forgive us.
Gracious Father,
please remind us
as we forget,
that your love is
unconditional,
always moulding us
into what we could be,
always blessing us
that we might glorify you.
For love,
grace
and forgiveness,
we thank you.
