Prayer For Spouse
Father, your greatest command was to love You and love each other. You've given marriage as a holy relationship that reflects our relationship with You. Show us how to follow your example and set aside our selfishness and pride and humbly serve each other. Help us to be of one spirit and of one mind and value each other above ourselves, looking out for each other's interests. In the midst of our busy lives, help us take time to love each other deeply from the heart, as you have loved us. May the love we have for each other be an example to the world of how You love them and gave Your life for them.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Grant us the strength to hold fast to our vows. When we got married we promised to love, honor, and cherish each other as long as we both shall live.
And so we ask that you teach us to love the way that we should, with patience and kindness, forgiveness and grace. Show us the best way to bestow honor one another. Open our hearts to fully cherish each other, and open our eyes to see the blessings we have.
Finally, Lord, may we never take these vows for granted, but rather fulfill them with honor and strength. In the name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.
Lord, help us to remember when we first met and the strong love that grew between us. Help us love in practical ways so that nothing can divide us. May our words be kind and our thoughts gracious. May we remain humble enough to ask for forgiveness and wise enough to freely give.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Disagreements over finances, and the stress of debt can wear a couple down. Sometimes it breaks them, and sometimes it makes them stronger together.
We want to fight for our marriage. We want to work through the tough times together, wisely finding ways to manage the money we have, and joyfully accepting all that we're given.
If we come to poverty, help us stand firm on the promise we made, to have and to hold for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer. If we have much, show us ways to invest in our future, and give for Your glory and honour.
Give us a sense of peace and contentment regardless of what state we are in, believing that You will provide for our needs according to Your merciful glory and grace.
Amen.
Father, I am very grateful that You are so ready to give us the wisdom we need. You tell us in your Word that If we need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to us. He will not rebuke us for asking.
Thank you Lord that we can bring every request to you, including the request for more wisdom. As we face our trials and challenges and choices, give us you fresh perspective. Help us see life through your lens, through the lens of the gospel. Help us have confidence in our minds, and in the Spirit, who is always with us and helps us know and discern your will.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We pray for a deeper understanding of each other. We've been together for a while, but we're two different people who do things in two different ways. And so we ask that You'd give us the strength to be flexible when we need to be, and give us the patience to handle our emotions wisely.
Help us to be good listeners who are sensitive to the needs of each other.
May our differences sharpen each other to grow stronger in faith, and challenge each other to consider new things.
Bind us together in unity, and use our differences to strengthen that bond.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Lord Jesus, I pray you would be glorified in my marriage. Wherever I find myself, in good times or bad times help me to reflect your character. In faith, I wait for change and healing in my marriage. Meanwhile, I lean on your strength and believe you will guide me, give me wisdom and strength so I can honor your name.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please help us to grow. Give us the wisdom to put aside our desires for those things that we know to be good.
Grant us the strength to exercise the areas of our lives where we lack. Give us a focus and the perseverance to run.
May we step out in faith rather than sitting around waiting for motivation to move us. We know what we should be doing, and we know what we should be changing, but we're lacking self-discipline. Give us the wisdom to grow and the strength to move forward.
Amen.
