Prayer For Someone Passing Away
Faithful God,
to whom mercy and compassion belong,
hear our prayer on behalf of _____________
whom you have called out of this world.
Welcome her/him into heaven,
where there will be no more suffering, no more pain, no more sickness;
but only the fullness of peace and joy.
Surround _______________'s family with your love, that they may not be
overwhelmed by their grief. Grant them comfort in their sorrow,
courage in their loss, and hope in your promise of eternal life. We believe
that one day they shall be reunited with ______________.
Until then, may they cherish their memories of their loved one and turn to
you for strength and consolation in the days to come.

Prayer in Suffering
O Lord, your sorrowing Mother stood by your cross; help us in our sorrows to share your sufferings.
Like the seed buried in the ground, you have produced the harvest of eternal life for us; make us always dead to sin and alive to God.
Shepherd of all, in death you remained hidden from the world; teach us to love our hidden spiritual life with you and the Father.
In your role as the new Adam, you went down among the dead to release all the just there since the beginning; grant that all who are dead in sin may hear your voice and rise to new life.
Son of the living God, you have allowed us through baptism to be buried with you; grant that we may also rise with you in baptism and walk in newness of life. Amen.
I commend you, my dear [name] to almighty God, and entrust you to your Creator.
May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth.
May holy Mary, the angels and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life.
May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace.

For all those who woke this morning
to the loneliness of bereavement
the empty bed or chair,
an unaccustomed quietness,
a life now incomplete
may they know your presence
in the stillness of the day,
and through the love of friends
who offer their condolence.
And in the darker moments
may they reach out to hold your hand
and feel the warmth of the One
who has already passed from death to life
to welcome others into God's Kingdom.
Almighty Father, source of forgiveness and salvation, grant that our relatives and friends who have passed from this life may, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of all the saints, come to share your Eternal happiness through Christ our Lord. Amen
In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them eternal rest.
The old order has passed away:
welcome them into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,
