Prayer For Pet Loss
Heavenly Father, please help me. My dear pet, [pet's name], is lost. I pray you, Father, let our beacon of love shine more and more brightly, so that he/she can find his/her way home again.
Let it shine forth from my heart and home to light his/her way back and to hasten our reunion. Thank you Father, for hearing my prayer.
[Pet's name} come home, come home, come home!
You were always thrilled to see me
No matter what my mood.
Your needs, to put it simply,
Were love, affection, and food.
And in return you gave me joy
My heart filled with your love
You were the "goodest of the boys"
And now you're good above.
Your wagging tail
Your boopable nose
You loved without fail
It was me you chose.
My lap's now empty
And so is my heart
Walks will be lonely
Now that we're apart.
This prayer remembers that all animals are in God's care all the time; he sees them even if their owners can't. The prayer then goes on to ask God for the pet's safe return.
Blessed are you, Lord God, for all living creatures you have made. You keep them in your care and not one of them is lost without you knowing. They glorify you, each in its own way, and speak to us of your beauty and love. Bless them and keep them from harm. They unquestionably accept their place in the rhythm of your creation. May we respect them and cherish them for they are your gift to us; through them may we come to know you better and praise you, their Creator. Blessed be the love and joy that they bring to us. Amen.
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called "The Rainbow Bridge" because of its
many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge,
there is a land of meadows, hills and
valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm Spring
weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
Those who have been maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with each other.
But there is only one thing missing.
They are not with their special person who
loved them on earth.
So, each day, they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up.
The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one runs from the group.
You have been seen.
When you and your special friend meet,
you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again.
You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then, you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.
Almighty God, I was fortunate to receive the gift of (name of pet) from You now that he/she has left this life, please help me cope with my loss with strength and courage. I know that my beloved companion no longer suffers and will live on in many fond memories. May they be treated with the care and respect as he/she has enriched my life, I pray that I may enrich the lives of others. Amen.
God the Father, we ask you to help us find (name of pet), our dear pet who is now lost. We know that you placed animals on the earth for many reasons, including companionship for man.
We therefore ask you to help us find our lost companion, and pray that You will keep him (her) safe and protect him (her) from harm until he (she) is found.
We join our prayers with St. Francis, St. Anthony of Padua, and all the saints,
and pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
St. Anthony, you are the patron of the poor and the helper of all who seek lost articles. Help me to find the pet I have lost so that I will be able to make better use of the time I will gain for God's greater honor and glory. Grant your gracious aid to all people who seek what they have lost especially those who seek to regain God's grace. Amen.
