Prayer For Pets

Heavenly Father, we ask for your mercy that this beloved small creature, which is your own, be not in
pain. We ask that health be restored and sustain if it is your will so that they be allowed to stay with us a
little longer here in this world, where they are needed. We ask that if there is medical care needed, that
the way be provided. We ask that this one does not suffer needlessly. We ask for your compassion and
grace that this one be healed through your love, through your mercy and through the help of those here
on earth, through whom your love comes forth. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy
Spirit, we ask these things not for ourselves, but for this small life that is so precious and carries the light
of your love. Amen.

Beloved merciful Lord, we know that in nature you do not allow your creatures to suffer. As you have
allowed us the utmost generous gift of your creatures into our lives, we ask that we are able to keep
them from suffering in pain. Bless us with understanding to know when our pet is hurting, because we
as humans cannot always know. Our pets cannot tell us with words and sometimes we are so busy in
our lives that we do not see the signs of pain. Teach us to be more sensitive to our pet's needs. Help us
to find the resources to restore health and to keep them from pain. Show us the way Lord, to keep the
sacred trust of dominion over your little ones. Help us to live up to that trust and to honor the life that
you have blessed us with so that they do not live in pain as a result of living with human beings. We ask
this blessing from the sincerity of our hearts and with humility, in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, (cat's name) is such a gentle soul; please welcome him into your arms and onto your lap. I pray that his transition is peaceful and he feels my love for him as he goes. Thank you for allowing me the time with (cat's name) that I had - he was such a blessing to me.

Lord, thank you for the blessings of companionship you allowed (dog name) to provide. His attentive demeanor and patience with me daily reminded me of the care you put into providing your people with friendship from four-legged friends. Please allow his transition into the afterlife to be smooth and painless and allow him to gain the understanding that he meant a great deal to me and was very loved.

Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends, the animals, especially for animals who are suffering: for animals that are over-worked, under-fed and cruelly treated: for all wistful creatures in captivity: for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry. Amen.

Help us, dear God, to learn from all wild things. How to live in harmony with our land; how to deal with enemies; how to live in peace with those who are unlike us; how strong is the love of a parent; how the young must learn to grow up; how to enjoy the beauty of strength and life and how to accept death. Amen.

Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows
to all Your creatures. From our souls to theirs goodness flows,
touching each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant to our
special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good
relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help
us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing
closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good
St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures.
Give him the power to watch over our animal friends until they are
safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in
giving You honor forever. Amen.

Lord God,
you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power.
You created all things for your glory,
yet there are those in your Creation who languish in pain and suffering.
Please look kindly upon those animals who are in need this day,
whether they are in the wild, on the streets, in captivity, or elsewhere.
Deliver those who are hurt, abused, hungry, and forgotten.
Please grant that they may be treated with the loving care and respect all your Creation deserves,
in the name of Jesus, amen.
