Prayer For Navy Sailors
Almighty God we give thanks for all those who work at sea. We acknowledge our need for the food and raw materials they transport. We recognize that they are sometimes in danger and their long absences often involve sacrifices in their family life. Help us to show our gratitude not only in our words, but also in our actions. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
We pray, O God for all seafarers as they fulfill the duties and face the dangers of their calling: the officers, men and women the Royal Canadian Navy; the Canadian Coast Guard and Auxiliary; police and fire rescue; the fishing fleet; the pilots; and all who carry out the services of docks and harbours. Grant them your strength and protection and keep them in the hours of special need; for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
Eternal Father, strong to save, Whose arm hath bound the restless wave, Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep Its own appointed limits keep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea! O Trinity of love and power! Our brethren shield in danger's hour; From rock and tempest, fire and foe, Protect them wheresoe'er they go; Thus evermore shall rise to Thee Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
Dear Lord, We honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country's heritage, for all of us. Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made for their many different contributions to America's victories over tyranny and oppression. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Eternal God, creator of the heavens and ruler of the raging seas, take under your powerful protection and bless all members of the Royal Australian Navy. Preserve them from the dangers of the sea and strengthen them so that they may faithfully serve our country. With the help of others who love freedom may they be able to ensure security for all those who lawfully travel the seven seas, and by their effort maintain for all people the possibility of serving you in peace and justice all through their lives. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord m y soul to keep,
G rant th a t before I wake,
No other sailor m y shoes and socks

Lord w atch over me in m y slumber,
And see th a t m y ham m ock stays on

See th a t no clews or lashings break,
To let me fall before I wake.
Keep me safe w ithin Thy sight,
And let's have no fire drill tonight;
In the m orning let me wake,
B reathing scents of sirloin steak.
God protect me in m y dreams,
And m ake this b etter than it seems;
G rant the tim e m ay sw iftly fly,
When I shall re st on high
Lord, at times such as this,
when we realize that the ground beneath our feet
is not as solid as we had imagined,
we plead for your mercy.
As the things we have built crumble about us,
we know too well how small we truly are
on this ever-changing, ever-moving,
fragile planet we call home.
Yet you have promised never to forget us.
God of the universe,
Open our hearts to feel your compassion
Galvanize in us the act of continued giving
Bond us to our sisters and brothers in need
Comfort and heal the injured, the bereaved, the lost
Strengthen the aid workers and medical personnel
Bolster the resolve of governments and those with power to help
Open through this tragedy pathways to partnerships and peace
In Your Name of mercy and healing and compassion we pray
