Prayer For My Son
O my God,
trusting in your promises
and because you are faithful,
powerful and merciful,
I hope, through the merits of Jesus Christ,
for the pardon of my son sins,
final perseverance
and the blessed glory of heaven
O my God, relying on your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my son sins, the help of your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
Pray that he will have a heart that seeks to honor God's design for marriage and will desire to walk in the roles He has set forth in scripture (1 Corinthians 14:34, 1 Timothy 2:9-10, and Titus 2:3-5).
Pray that he will have a heart that seeks to be meek and peaceable, not fearful, but lovingly respectful of others and desirous to share Christ with them. (Matthew 5:5&9 and 1 Timothy 1:7 and 1 John 4:7-8)
May he not shrink back and be destroyed by the pleasures this world offers her (Hebrews 10:39) but help him stand firm, letting nothing move him (1 Corinthians 15:58), knowing that You alone are her judge and You will help him stand fast (Romans 14:4).
I believe Your Word when it says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7). Teach my child to fear you and fill her with wisdom and discernment in her life choices and relationships (1 Kings 3:9-12). Make her mind sharp and give her a discerning spirit, but temper that with innocence (Matthew 10:16) and integrity so that she may walk securely in Your presence (Proverbs 10:9).
Father God, I praise you for the gift of my son. I pray he would follow after you and be a builder of your kingdom. I ask that you would protect and steady his steps. May he learn to hear and follow your voice. Like Timothy in the Bible, may my son be an example to believers in speech, love, conduct, faith and purity. (1 Timothy 4:12) Amen
