Prayer For Military Family

God, watch over our children while my spouse deploys. I ask that You protect our children from any evil spirit that tries to deceive them into thinking that they are to blame for their father's/mother's deployment or that his/her deployment means that he/she does not love them. I pray that our children do not resent their father/mother because of his/her chosen profession. Help them to understand that he/she chose to serve our nation because he/she believes in serving something greater than himself/herself. Please do not let our children become overwhelmed with feelings of fear, sadness, or anger because of hi/her departure. As my spouse prepares for deployment instill in him/her a sense of urgency to provide my children the love, attention, and reassurance they need to handle the separation.

In the name of Jesus, I bind all negative effects that this deployment could have on our children. I believe by faith that our children will not revert to bedwetting but experience continued success with potty training. They will not experience nightmares but have Your blessed sleep. They will not develop eating disorders but maintain normal appetites. They will not seek out and engage in conflict or participate in delinquent behavior; rather they will remain friendly to other people and continue to follow the spiritual, moral, and ethical standards that we set for them. They will not attempt to avoid school but continue to enjoy learning and remain focused when doing schoolwork. They will not experience physical health problems due to the physiological stress caused by their father's/mother's deployment; instead they are of sound mind and body.

Show my spouse and me the best ways to help our children cope with the deployment, even if that means sending them to professionals. Help my children to know that it is okay and healthy to openly and honestly express what they are feeling. Help my spouse and me not to criticize, judge, or dismiss their feelings in anyway. Rather, let us actively listen to them and empathize with their concerns.

Lord, strengthen me so that I am a calm example for our children. Give me control over my emotions so that I do not spread negativity to our kids. Help me to monitor what my family sees and hears so that we do not expose ourselves to things that will foster fear, doubt, and unbelief. Instead, let us continually feed our spirits with things that will keep our minds edified and positive. Remind me to spend quality time with the children as a family and individually. Give me Your wisdom when it comes to instilling and maintaining structure, order, and discipline in our children. Guide me when it comes to training the kids in the way that they should go so that they do not depart from it. With love and affection, let me continually reassure our children that they are the most treasured part of our family.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Father, I come before you now on behalf of ________, my much loved family member performing his/her patriotic duty aboard. Watch over, protect, care for, and bring our hero/heroine home safely to our family.

I surround him/her from top to bottom, side to side, and inside out with faith, love wisdom, favor, and protection. I ask that the Holy Spirit go ahead of him/her making pathways straight and safe. I call upon angels to tend to the lest a soldier even dash his/her foot against a stone.

Father, we trust You to lead, guide, and return him/her safe and sound to our borders and our home.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Dear Father, I pray that secret things will be revealed and that the intentions of the wicked against our nation will be thwarted. May knowledge of terrorist acts become known to those who provide our national and international security.

May our leaders act swiftly to avert all danger. Give our protectors the strength, courage, and urgency to act in order to prevent terrorist acts against our nation, and give them the defenses to apprehend and punish all offenders.

In Jesus' name. Amen

O Lord,

We weep with those who weep and mourn with those who mourn. Comfort these moms and dads, children and spouses as only You can. You have collected all their tears in a bottle. Help them feel Your strong presence, see Your tender hand all around them and hear Your voice directing them in these dark circumstances. Draw them daily to Your Word to process their pain and grieve with hope. Spur the body of Christ around them to be Your hands and feet and to meet their practical needs. Thank you, Lord, that You are the defender of widows and father to the fatherless. Bind up their wounds and heal their broken hearts. You are good and You do good and we pray that even in their pain they will see Your goodness sustaining them through pain. Restore to them the joy of your salvation and sing over them a new song.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Father,

We ask you to place your hand of protection and peace on the families of those who have sent a loved one to serve in the Armed Forces. In their absence, give the families at home provision for their needs and strength to manage their homes alone. Help them to trust You when they're tempted to give in to fear, to take their thoughts captive to Your truth and to rest in Your sovereignty and goodness. Comfort them in loneliness and anchor them in Your unchanging love. We ask You to use the adversity of distance for Your good -- to strengthen their marriages and to deepen the bonds of family. Help the children of parents who've been deployed to feel Your strong love, to know Your comfort, to develop endurance and to learn to trust You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

God,

All wisdom comes from You and without You we can do nothing. Help those in our military making decisions to go to You and seek Your wisdom and Your guidance. Give them the insight they need to carry out their tasks and to protect our country. Give them knowledge and skill to operate machinery, technology, aircraft, weapons, and more to carry out their tasks and to stay safe in their missions. Give our leaders understanding to make right decisions affecting our country and our Armed Forces. May our leaders and troops exercise integrity, honesty and valor as they serve. Forgive us from turning from You. Turn the hearts of our country and our leaders to You, Lord. We can do nothing without You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord,

Thank you for the men and women who have stepped up to serve and protect our country. May they know the blessing of serving well. Thank you for your promise to never leave or forsake your people. We pray for the protection of our Armed Forces serving our country at home or abroad, whether in drills or in deployment. Keep from harm all those in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Help them to be strong and courageous and do not let them be discouraged. Help them to feel Your presence. Help them to stay morally strong and free from untoward influence. Keep them healthy and free from sickness as well as injury. Guide them, be their eyes and their ears as they move about and carry out their order and missions.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Dear Lord,

Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the men and women who serve our country now and in the past, and for the sacrifices their families make so that we can all enjoy the blessing of freedom.

We praise you for calling them to help protect us, and for giving them the courage and ability to do their jobs well.

Guide their choices and their actions, Lord. Help them to see you working in their daily lives, whether in the field, at home, or abroad.

Surround them with your mighty angels; protect them in your mercy; cover them with your grace.

Guard their hearts while they are far from loved ones, and bless them with moments to cherish when they are together.

Hold these families close, Lord. May they look to You for the strength and peace that only You can give.

In Jesus Name we pray,

Amen.
