Prayer For Godparents
Loving God, I pray that you will guide and help me in being a godparent.
Give me your wisdom and your love.
Help me to be a good example of Christian living
And help me remember the promises I have made for my precious godchild [name]. Amen.
Heavenly father,
Thank you for the precious gift of [name]
And for all the joy that she/he brings us.
Be with her/him on her journey through life
So she/he may come to know our Lord Jesus Christ
As Saviour and Friend. Amen.
Heavenly Father, we bless you for the God parents of the family of (family name). Lord teach them the responsibility of being good God parents. Help them to demonstrate the Spirit of prayer. Let their care and nurturing of (God child's name), be consistent with Your Word, so that they (God parents) will have no greater joy than to hear that their God child / God children are walking in the truth, Amen.
Abba Father, Your Word reminds us that, children are a heritage from the Lord. So, we pray for the God parents who have willingly agreed to take on the responsibility to support the parents, families and the God child throughout the year in spiritual disciplines. Help them to be faithful in prayer. Give them a good listening ear. So grant them, the Spirit of encouragement, as well as strength, care and kindness. Let their lives be an example to their God child, Amen.
Dear Jesus, Your Word says that we must train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old, they will not depart from it. Father, as God parents for (name of child), we pray that You will help them to teach their God child/children the ways of the Lord. We pray that they shall team them diligently, knowing wisdom, instructions and words of insight. Father bless and strengthen each God parent during this christening day we pray, Amen.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the blessings and responsibility given to God parents. During this special christening service, we ask that by Your divine Holy Spirit, You will help each God parent to provide the care for their God-child/children; Help them to walk by Your light because in you there is no darkness. We pray that every child will be drawn by the example of their God parents in walking in the way and life of our Lord and Jesus Christ, Amen.
God of light and love, thank you for the joy of being a godparent,
And the opportunities it gives us to journey with our godchildren as they grow in faith.
Keep us faithful to the promises we have made to pray for them,
and to encourage them to deepen their relationship with you.
Help us to be a prayerful, supportive and loving presence in the lives of our godchildren,
And to model to them a life rooted in you, the way, the truth and the life.

You give us friends and family to be with us on life's journey.
We thank you for godparents who pray for us,
listen to us, help us make good choices, and show us
more about Jesus.
Bless them on their journey of faith, and encourage them
in their prayers for the children of every age they
