Prayer For Gifts

God, could you use me like the boy who helped feed the five thousand? Out of the thousands of people gathered to see you, you chose a young person, took his five loaves and two fish, and made sure thousands had more than their fill to eat. (Jn 6: 1-13) I wonder how those people felt when that little bit of food was offered by a youth? Were they embarrassed by the boy's foolishness? Or did they feel guilty that they had not offered their own food? Regardless, you accepted the gift and did fantastic things with it. Could you do the same with me? Could you take my simple gifts and do wondrous things with them? I'm just afraid that my gifts will be rejected. It's risky, Lord, and I'm not good with risks, remember?

All: God help me to take the risk and let You use the gifts I have, trusting that it doesn't matter what other people think. Even if things don't work out as I plan, I'll trust that you are in charge and know better than I. Thanks, God. Amen.

God, Jesus tells us to give to you what is yours. What do you want from me, God? What can I give to you? I can offer my time and talents to serve my faith community. I can sing, play an instrument, draw posters, greet visitors, clean, decorate, organize, cook, bake, and telephone. I can help teach children, lector, or usher,...but is it enough, Lord? What more can I give? I can reach out to serve and share your love at home, in my neighbourhood, my school, my community,...but is it enough, Lord? What more can I give?

All: I want to serve you better, Lord. Speak to me, and I will listen. Amen.

Spice Me Up, Lord
Lord, I want to be where I can make a difference, where I can spice up another person's life by bringing him or her the good news of your love and justice. Help me discover all the gifts you have graced me with so that I can help turn this world around----starting with my own life!

Lord show me how to keep fresh in my commitment to serve you each day. Amen.

Heavenly Lord, do not let us neglect Your Spirit or the gifts You have given us. Give us courage to use these gifts and the humility to not use them for our glory, but for You and Your glory. Help us see the good work You have ready for us and embrace that work with willingness and joy. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the Lord Jesus to live and die for me, and thank You for bringing me into Your family because I have trusted Jesus as my Saviour. Thank You that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and that You have sent Him to indwell my heart and to lead and guide me into all truth. I pray that You would take my life and use every part of me, to Your praise and glory.

Father, I know that the Bible tells us that we all receive a gift from You, a spiritual gift, and I understand that this is very special and different from my own natural talents or my own acquired abilities. Lord, I don't really know what is the difference between the true spiritual gift given to me by the Holy Spirit when I was born from above, and what are my own natural talents and abilities.

Lord, I pray that You would use all that I am, my own abilities and my talents as well as the spiritual gift or gifts that You, in Your grace, have seen fit to bestow on me, but I also pray that You would open my understanding to the special spiritual gift that You have bestowed on me by Your grace.

Show me I pray, what is the special spiritual gift that You have given me to use to the benefit of the body of Christ, and I ask that You would make it truly known to me and that You would use it to encourage and edify my brothers and sisters in Christ, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

Give me a discerning spirit, Oh Lord. Bless me with the word of knowledge. Allow me extraordinary faith for healing, and working miracles all for the glory of You.

Give me the strength and wisdom to use them wisely. Lead me and guide me as I use these gifts appropriately.

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

2 Timothy 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

Yeshua, my Lord and Savior, I praise Your Holy name, for You are worthy. Oh so worthy of all the worship, honor, glory and love.

Father, please cleanse my heart and renew my mind, as I pour out my soul unto You. Bless me with spiritual gifts, Lord, so I can use them to help Your people, if that be Your will.

1 Corinthians 12:8-10 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom. And to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit. Yet to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit. To another is given the working of miracles. And to another prophecy. To another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues and to another the interpretation of tongues:

Dear God, I desire your wisdom more than silver and gold. I want to be wise so that I can always make appropriate decisions that will benefit your kingdom and me. I understand that I may not receive your wisdom unless I commit myself to the consistent studying of the scriptures. Therefore, I ask you to please help me to be disciplined and consistently study the bible. Let me observe all your instructions so that I can be wise, and so that I can prosper in life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen.

Oh Lord, you are the father of wisdom, and I want you to shower me with wisdom. Let me have self-control. Give me the grace to accurately process my thoughts, and guide my actions to reflect wisdom. Let my wisdom be selfless, so that it can last long and also lead me to heaven. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen.
