Prayer For Flooding
Almighty God,
Creator and preserver of our world. We ask you to hear our humble prayers for all those afflicted by the devastating floodwaters throughout the state of Queensland & elsewhere in Australia.
We pray for those still threatened by flood in city & rural areas. Protect both life and property. In your mercy, bring relief to all affected areas.
We pray for the sick and injured, for the homeless, for the bereaved and for those still searching for loved ones in this great tragedy. Have compassion, merciful Lord, in the midst of their profound suffering, comforting and relieving them according to their needs.
Heal those broken in body and spirit. Give courage and hope in the midst of despair. Through the generosity of governments and individuals across our nation, provide a future for those whose present circumstances are marked by loss and desperation. otect all those who are most vulnerable in the areas of devastation. And by your gracious hand, rebuild communities where men, women and children are nurtured with care and love.
And turn the hearts of all to you, the God of all comfort.
In Jesus' name we pray. AMEN.
God, our provider, we acknowledge you
as the only source of growth and abundance.
With your help we will plant our crops again,
and by your power they will produce our harvest.
In your kindness and love,
make up for what is lacking in our efforts.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
Good and gracious God,
all the elements of nature obey your command.
Calm the waters that threaten us
and turn our fear of your power into praise of your goodness.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
For people battered by forceful storms
For communities battling rising floods
For emergency services stretched to the limit
We pray
For farmers losing straw and crops
For shopkeepers losing high street trade
For repeat victims losing strength and hope
We pray
For resilience and resolve to change
For impatience with using flood plains
For commitment to protect riverbanks and coasts
We pray
In Jesus' name we pray
Amen
Lord of Creation,
we are tested, almost beyond endurance,
by the rising waters and the rain of tears.
Amidst the fear-full floods,
as homes and farms are submerged and villages deserted,
be with us;
in stewardship of our land;
in nurture for our community;
in lament for all that is lost.
Bless us we pray,
in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
Compassionate God, we remember today all those whose homes and communities have been damaged by flooding in Cheshire.
We give thanks for the courage and dedication of the emergency services who have come to the help and rescue of all in need.
We ask you to look with care and love on the community in Whaley Bridge as they watch anxiously the work being done to repair the dam at the Toddbrook Reservoir.
We pray for those who have been evacuated from their homes and we celebrate the kindness of neighbours in caring for the most vulnerable and those in need.
Finally, we ask in the power of your healing Spirit to rebuild not just the physical communities which are coping with many problems today but also to give us a sense of trust in your goodness through the kindnesses of one another, in Your Holy Name.
Amen.
Graciously hear us, O Lord, when we call upon You, and grant unto our supplications a calm atmosphere, that we, who are justly afflicted for our sins, may, by Your protecting mercy, experience pardon. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Heavenly Father, today we pray about the landslides and flooding in Hawaii, particularly Kauai. First, Lord, we pray for anyone who might still be in danger: lacking supplies, injured or trapped in a place as yet undiscovered. Give the imperiled resourcefulness and strength to carry on. And we pray for rescuers to find them. Next, we pray for those who are trapped, yet with supplies. Give them continued courage, wisdom in how to use their resources, and peace despite this unique challenge. Lord, we pray for rescuers, who have been retrieving people via helicopter, boat, jet ski, bus, and whatever has been necessary. Give them clear minds, steady footing, stout hearts. May they bring not only rescue, but hope to those with whom they interact. As rescue operations wind down, may these brave souls find time for good rest, and may their loved ones support and encourage them. We pray for fresh water to get to those who need it as quickly and efficiently as possible. We also pray for the longer-term recovery efforts that will be taking place not only in Kauai, but also in Oahu and Hawaii, which also sustained flooding. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
