Prayer For First Day Of School

Heavenly Father, We give you our hopes, worries and fears as our lovely child starts school. We pray that you would fill their hearts with excitement and calm their worries with your love. Please go before them, help them make friends, enjoy the activities and build relationships with their teachers and carers. May we learn to entrust them each day into your care, and as we do may they grow in confidence and independence. Father, may joy abound in their hearts as they enter this new exciting season of their lives. In Jesus name.

Dear Father God,

Today, I ask You for godly, loyal friends for my child(ren). Friends who love purity, who are pure in heart, and gracious in speech, friends that will sharpen them and love them at all times. Please give my child(ren) a heart of compassion. Help him/her/them to see situations from every perspective and to treat others like they would want to be treated. Give him/her/them a friendly and kind spirit. May he/she/they welcome friends with a smile. God I pray my child(ren) would be wise when choosing friends. Give him/her/them discernment to find true friends and help them to build each other up. Give them the ability to say no when necessary and bravery to stand up for what is right. In Jesus name I/we pray, Amen.

Dear God, Father of heavenly lights, Giver of perfect gifts,

I give my child(ren) to you today and everyday. Keep him/her and his/her schoolmates safe and protected, Father God. I ask that this school year you would use every person, every experience and every lesson to shape him/her into Your image, to grow in his/her fruit of Your spirit. God, grow in his/her heart. Teach him/her to sacrifice like You did, giving up what he/she values for the good of others. Bless the teachers and administrators, God. Keep them safe. These men and women who have committed to invest in the next generation. Give them discernment and wisdom to see each student's unique abilities and gifts. Multiply their preparation and may their plans be fruitful. Fill the day with moments of wonder. Remind them of their special place in the lives of their students and give them confidence in their abilities. And for all the parents/grandparents, Lord, I pray for peace. Give us plenty to do so we don't have time to fret. Let us be extraordinarily grateful for the privilege of parenting. Fill us with wisdom as we watch our babies grow. Grant us patience and kindness as they stretch their wings. Hold us close to You as we learn to let them go. In Jesus name I/we pray, Amen.

Protect our babies, Lord. Whether it's the first day of kindergarten or middle school, or college, those students are our children. And we want today to be full of good things. Let them make friends and reach out to those who are lonely. Give them attentive minds and caring hearts. Use our babies, God, to be a blessing to others.

Bless the teachers, God. These men and women who have committed to invest in the next generation. Give them discernment and wisdom to see each student's unique abilities and gifts. Multiply their preparation and may their plans be fruitful. Fill the day with moments of wonder. Remind them of their special place in the lives of their students and give them confidence in their abilities as teachers.

And for all the mommas, Lord, a prayer for peace. Give us plenty to do so we don't have time to fret. Let us be extraordinarily grateful for the privilege of parenting. Fill us with wisdom as we watch out babies grow. Grant us patience and kindness as they stretch their wings. Hold us close to You as we learn to let them go.

It's the first day of school, Lord.

WATCH OVER ALL OF US STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND MOMS. GUARD OUR HEARTS. FOCUS OUR MINDS. DRAW US TO YOU.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

We give you thanks, our God.

For the joy we have in seeing friends for the first time in a month:

We give you thanks, our God.

For those with whom we live in dorms, apartments, and houses:

We give you thanks, our God.

For the chance to gather freely in worship:

We give you thanks, our God.

For all that we will learn: in the classroom, in this worship space, in Lane, in labs, in practice rooms, in the library, in relationships, on campus and off campus:

We give you thanks, our God.

For wisdom for all students, staff, and faculty, as we seek to offer God our very best in all that we do:

Lord, please be near us.

For family relationships that we've invested in over the last month but now step away from in some ways:

Lord, please be near us.

For perseverance and diligence in our studies:

Lord, please be near us.

For healthy sleep patterns, motivation to exercise, self-control in eating good, healthy foods:

Lord, please be near us.

For those areas of life in which we struggle, where we despair, and for those things of which we are ashamed:

Lord, please be near us.

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You that I can always turn to You, and Father, today it is quite difficult as I am about to leave my little child at a new school for the first time. I think that my reservations far exceed those of my child, and so I pray that You would be with them throughout the day as their caring Shepherd and Lord, be with me so that I may rest in You too.

I pray that they will not get lost in the school corridors, or forget which is their classroom. I pray that they will not lose any of their equipment or feel frightened when they are not sure what to do or where to go. I pray that they will find friends in their class and that You will keep them from worrying if they have not got exactly the same equipment as the other children may have.

I pray that You would give the teacher a gracious attitude towards each child. Give the teacher the wisdom and compassion to notice any one that may be fearful or afraid. Lord, more than anything I pray that You would be with each child throughout the day and that this experience may be a stepping stone in the journey of life, which will be overshadowed and undergirded by you, every step on the way.

Give me courage to let go of my own children and to trust them into Your perfect care. May this be an opportunity for us both to draw ever closer to you with every passing day. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for the heritage and gift of children and for bringing my own precious child to this important milestone in their life, their first day at school.

Lord, I pray that You would be with them and that You would be there every moment of the day to care and protect. Take away any fears or concerns they may have, and develop in them a desire to make new and exciting discoveries.

Give the teachers wisdom and grace to help and cherish each child so that they may settle down and enjoy all that comes with constructive learning. I pray that my own precious little one will make friends and not feel lonely.

Help me Lord, not to be concerned, but to leave my child in Your hands, knowing that You have promised to be there every moment of the day. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

Loving Lord ,I give my child into Your hands today, as they set off on this new journey of discovery on their first day at school. Father, may all go smoothly for them and indeed for all who will be in the class today. I pray that You will undertake for the little things that can so often go wrong or cause little ones problems or worries.
Father, I have sought to bring up my child in the way they should go and diligently taught them the truth of Scripture and that Jesus is their Saviour Who died for their sins and rose again, so that by believing on Him they will receive everlasting life. I have taught them to turn to You for all their needs and necessities, but Lord at times I feel that the current school system has strayed so far away from the truth of the gospel and I am concerned that they are not led away from all that they have learned throughout their early years of their life.
So Lord, I pray that you would protect my child's heart and mind as they attend this new school. Bring Christian teachers and other children into their lives who have the same Christian values that we hold so dear. Protect my child's mind and may their trust in Jesus be strengthened and grow as they start to attend school.
Lord, You have promised, that if we train up a child in the way that they should go, when they are old they will not depart from it. I claim this promise today and every day, and ask that You would help me to reinforce the truth of the gospel in the days that lie ahead. I pray that my little one will grow strong in the faith, and that their school education will help to reinforce rather than weaken their trust in the Lord Jesus, in Whose name I pray,
Amen.
