Prayer For First Communicants
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day/night be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong, and failing to do good, I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.
Our Father - The Lord's Prayer
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
O Jesus, You have loved us with such exceedingly great love as to give us the ineffable gift of the Holy Eucharist, inflame us with a burning zeal to promote Your glory by praying for (your child's name) to prepare worthily to approach Your holy table for the first time. Protect, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, this young soul from the assaults of evil, strengthen his/her faith, increase his/her love and endow him/her with all the virtues that will make him/her worthy to receive You. Amen.
Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts
which we are about to receive from Thy
bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Loving Heart of Jesus, You said that You would always be with us, even to the end of the age, and so You are in the Most Holy Eucharist. At each and every mass You unite Yourself with us in a unique and special way. You are closer to us than our own heartbeats. We pray that each and every child who receives You for the first time will in some way feel You Present within that Sacrament. We pray that they will realize how very much they are loved by You, and how eagerly You are to give Yourself to their innocent little hearts.
We pray that they may be able to reciprocate Your love by entrusting themselves completely to You and throwing themselves confidently into Your arms whenever they are in need of reassurance or help. We pray that these little ones will gladden You and console You for the indifference and ingratitude so many other souls wound You with. May all parents and guardians of First Communicants continue to teach their children the ways of the spiritual life and raise steadfast and staunch Catholic souls who will build up the Church and bring about Your Kingdom on earth. Amen.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Hail Mary, full of Grace,
the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
