Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you with joy and thanksgiving as we celebrate the engagement of this couple and the commitment they have made to each other to be joined together in marriage. We thank you for all of the time they have shared together and for the many joys and challenges that have given them the opportunity to know each other more deeply. Thank you for the love that has grown between them. Help their love to continue to grow daily as it encompasses all of the many wonderful aspects of love including compassion, a sense of belonging to each other, friendship and unconditional love.
As they plan their wedding and begin charting the direction of their new life together give them the ability to communicate well and to laugh often. Give them the grace to value each others' opinions, hopes, gifts, faith and dreams. Be with them in their times of disagreement that they might learn how to find common ground, how to give up personal control, how to talk over differences and how to express emotions in healthy ways. Help them to learn how to trust each other. Teach them how to deal with money issues, job demands, family obligations and personality differences. And grant them the time they need together as a couple to stay focused on their relationship during the course of wedding plans and busyness of modern life.

Today, give them wisdom and guidance and wise counsel to learn truths that will equip them for life together. Give them strength and efficiency as they plan the logistics of their wedding, and their family life beyond. Show them how to leverage the stresses of this season to cultivate maturity in their love. Amidst the joy of engagement, help them embrace the crucible that tests and purifies them. Engagement is a time trial where they will watch and learn about themselves, each other, and the uniqueness of their relationship. Walk with them closely through this process. Remind them at times of doubt that you are there. For you yourself understand engagement, for you are engaged to your Bride. As this couple anticipates their wedding, in the same way we all anticipate the consummation of history the wedding of Jesus with his People. May this human engagement reflect that same eternal hope!
Lord, as we prepare for the sacrament of marriage, we come to ask what you desire from us.
Guide us to know your will.
May we look to your love for us as our model of how we are to love each other.
Show us how to nourish and cherish each other as we would our own bodies.
Bring your strength to our weakness so that we might help each other grow into people you created us to be.
Enable us to grow in our intimacy with you and with each other so that we might experience the fullness of your love.
Thank you for the gift of marriage so that we can more fully understand your love for us.

Pray that you and your spouse-to-be would let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, and that the two of you would be firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1:27). Ask the Lord to grant you even now a vision of the joint ministry He has planned for your marriage.
Acknowledge to the Lord that although your heart makes plans, the LORD establishes your steps (Proverbs 16:9). Ask Him to direct your path and that of your beloved, as you both trust in Him. Yield your will to His in all things.
Confess the truth that unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain (Psalm 127:1). Share with God your heart's desire that He would build your house, and be the foundation on which your home is established.
Recount back to God that without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed (Proverbs 15:22). Ask the Lord to place the right counselors into your life and the life of your betrothed; that He would give
your advisers wisdom; and that He would grant you a teachable spirit.

would progress in spiritual maturity during the time of your engagement and in your marriage, making every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control
with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective
or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:3-8).
Ask that the God of endurance and encouragement would grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ (Romans 15:5-6).
Dear Heavenly Father, how good You are to give us the gift of anticipation about joyous occasions to come! Thank you for the person You have ordained for me to marry, and for directing our relationship thus far. I pray that you would continue to make your will known to us, in big ways and small, as we pursue your will together. We long to glorify you in our relationship, now and forevermore. It's in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. Amen.
Gracious Heavenly Father, we come to You with joyful hearts and grateful thanks for the beautiful way that You have brought us together in love, and pray that as we make our betrothal pledge to each other, that You would bless our time of engagement.
We pray that as we leave our single status behind and move forward to the day when we will be fully united in holy matrimony, that You would bless our time together, and that it would be a period when we would draw
even closer in faithful love to one another, and also to You.

Loving Heavenly Father, we come to You together on this special occasion of our engagement, giving You our grateful thanks that You brought us together, in love. Keep us united in love to each other and to You, and help us to keep You in the rightful

You are the God of love and we thank You Lord, that You have caused such a deep love for each other to develop between us. We want to dedicate our future together to You, Lord. Be with us Lord, as we grow closer together,
and as we make our plans for the future, we ask that You would guide us and direct us in all our decisions. Lord, we desire to be pure in Your sight and chaste in each others company, and pray that you would keep us from
temptation.
Unite us in love and peace and teach us Your ways as You guard us and guide us. And just as You poured out a special blessing on the young couple in Cana of Galilee, we pray that You would bless our union, bless our
