Prayer For Educators

Dear Father in heaven, how I thank You for those that have been called by You to minister to the children and young people in our Sunday School classes.

I pray that each one would be filled with the Holy Spirit and have a deep desire and ability to guide the young people in their charge, into a thorough knowledge of the Word of God and the plan of Salvation. Give them the ability and understanding to guide the young people they teach along the Christian pathway, with doctrinally sound teaching.

I pray that each teacher will recognise the vital role they play in the spiritual development of those in their charge, and of the important role and responsibility they have, in laying a firm and sure spiritual foundation for their lives.

Equip each one I pray, with a desire to study Your Word for themselves, so that they too may grow in grace and increase in their knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus. And I pray that by their example, the children and young people that they teach will also develop a desire to have their own personal walk with the Lord Jesus.

And so Lord, I pray that you would use each one to encourage the children they teach of the importance of reading the Word of God, studying the Bible and learning the Scriptures for themselves, so that they too may mature in the faith and be enabled to stand firm in a world that seems to have forgotten the God Who created them. May these Sunday School classes be places where the Lord Jesus is lifted high. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Dear Lord Jesus, When You lived on this earth, You were an incomparable Teacher. People called You "a Teacher come from God" and listened to Your words with a great desire. When I face my class today, help me to teach my students as You did. Let my teaching be pleasing to them and attract their attention. Give me Your wisdom in an abundant measure to teach them in such a way that they may understand what I teach. All the children will look to me today for their example. Give me the grace to live a holy life before them and to set an example to them. Lord, fill my life with Your presence so that the children may see You in me. Sanctify my life day by day.Lord, let not the pains I take on behalf of my pupils go in vain, but let all the children in my class positively pass in the subjects, which I teach them. How much encouragement and joy will it give me! Shed Your special compassion on those children, who on account of their poverty, sickness or other problems are unable to concentrate on their studies. Solve all their problems so that they can concentrate on their studies with a peaceful heart. Let me be an instrument in Your hand so that when I treat them with love, they may through that love taste Your love. As it is written, "Blessed is he that considers the poor", consider Lord, all my labours towards these children and bless my family. Let there not arise any worry in my heart, but meet all the needs of my family then and there. Bless me with good health in my body and help me attend to my work diligently and with interest. Lord, You had said, "My peace I leave unto you", grant that Divine Peace in me, in my school and its surroundings. Help me find favour in the eyes of my superiors and my colleagues so that I may do my Work peacefully. Abide with me this whole day and accomplish everything for me. Thank You Lord for hearing this prayer.Amen.

Help me to be a fine teacher,
to keep peace in the classroom,
peace between my students and myself,
to be kind and gentle
to each and every one of my students.
Help me to be merciful to my students,
to balance mercy and discipline
in the right measure for each student,
to give genuine praise as much as possible,
to give constructive criticism
in a manner that is palatable to my students.
Help me to remain conscientious
enough to keep my lessons always interesting,
to recognize what motivates each of my students,
to accept my students' limitations
and not hold it against them.
Help me not to judge my students too harshly,
to be fair to all,
to be a good role model,
but most of all Lord help me
to show your love to all of my students.
Amen.

Jesus Christ, Lord of all learning, You sat in the midst
of the teachers and doctors, hearing their words and
questioning their conclusions.

Encourage all of us who teach Your people.
Help us to understand our place as mentors and figures
of authority. May we stand tall as teachers of human
dignity and purpose.

Give us grace to fill the emptiness we often experience
and the endurance to serve what may seem to be futile.
Let us enjoy with You the reward of a person made
whole, made wise through Your lasting intercession and
love. Amen.

Dear God,

As countless teachers begin to prepare for a new school year ahead, grant them an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones, and may we make sure to show them love and respect in return. Give them grace as they help students who aren't thriving, courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small - yet incredibly important - ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come. Amen.

Amen.

Lord God,
your spirit of wisdom fills the earth
and teaches us your ways.

Look upon these teachers.
Let them strive to share their knowledge with gentle patience
and endeavor always to bring the truth to eager minds.

Grant that they may follow Jesus Christ,
the way, the truth, and the life,
forever and ever.
R/. Amen.

Father,

This is the day You have made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. It doesn't look like we thought it would look, nor will tomorrow and the days to come likely be executed in the way we expected and prepared for. Help us to see the good in each day. Help us to find reasons to rejoice and ways to be glad. Litter our lives with moments of laughter and lightheartedness, even in these extremely dark and trying times. Birthdays are still be celebrated each day. The sun keeps coming up, and You remain the same. We are created in Your image, God, to do good and great things to bring glory to Your name. Each one of us, both teacher and student, were created with specific purpose. Help teachers to have confidence in their craft. They were meant to teach, educate, coach, counsel and lead. They are needed, appreciated, and loved. Their work and their efforts are never in vain. When it is hard to see the good, grab our attention, Father. When we are sad and miss school, our normal routine, and our teammates and coaches, encourage our spirits. Sustain us through our very real fear of what is and will happen in our world, God. Remind us we are not alone, even when we feel isolated.
