Prayer For Dying Person Christian

All praise and glory are yours, Lord our God,
for you have called us to serve you in love.
Bless all who have grown old in your service
and give N. strength and courage
to continue to follow Jesus your Son.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I commend you, my dear brother/sister,
to almighty God,
and entrust you to your Creator.
May you return to Him
who formed you from the dust of the earth.
May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints
come to meet you as you go forth from this life.
May Christ who was crucified for you
bring you freedom and peace.
May Christ who died for you
admit you into his garden of paradise.
May Christ, the true Shepherd,
Acknowledge you as one of his flock.
May He forgive all your sins,
And set you among those He has chosen.
May you see your Redeemer face to face,
And enjoy the vision of God for ever.
Amen.

Almighty and merciful God, who hast bestowed upon mankind saving remedies and the gift of everlasting life, look graciously upon us Thy servants and comfort the souls which Thou hast made, that, in the hour of their passing, cleansed from all stain of sin, they may deserve to be presented to Thee, their Creator, by the hands of the holy angels. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

O most merciful Jesus, Lover of souls, I pray Thee, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thine Own Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their agony and to die this day. Amen.

Father, your Son accepted our sufferings
to teach us the virtue of patience in human illness.
Hear the prayers we offer for our sick brother/sister.
May all who suffer pain, illness or disease
realize that they have been chosen to be saints
and know that they are joined to Christ
in his suffering for the salvation of the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world,
we pray for your servant N.,
and commend him/her to your mercy.
For his/her sake you came down from heaven;
receive him/her now into the joy of your kingdom.
For though he/she has sinned,
he/she has not denied the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
but has believed in God
and has worshipped his/her Creator.
Amen.

In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:
welcome them into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,
but fullness of peace and joy
with your Son and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever.
R/. Amen.

Dear heavenly Father, my dear friend who is closer to me than a brother or sister, is fast approaching the time when You will gather them in Your arms and take them home safely, to the heavenly shore.
Thank You, Father, for their life and witness and for their great love for You. Thank You for the encouragement they have given so many over the years, and for the gracious spirit that marked the way they have walked.
Lord, I know that their one joy and delight is to be with You forever, but it means that we will be left alone here. I know we will not grieve as the world grieves, for our hope and trust is in You, but I know we all will miss them so much. I will miss them so much Lord, for they have been such a sweet fragrance in my life, and the lives of so many with whom they fellowshipped.
Enfold them with Your love, dear Lord, and I pray that at the right time they will close their eyes in this world for the last time, only to open them to see You. How I worship You for all Your goodness and loving-kindness. Thank You, Father, for the privilege of having such a godly friend for so much of my life.
In to Your hands I commend this precious one - my dear friend, who has been closer to me than any brother or sister.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
