Prayer For Discouragement

Merciful God, I am weighed down with feelings of guilt and shame. I take comfort that You know my every action, and yet You still love me. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Thank You that through the blood that Jesus has shed on the cross, You have paid for every sin past, present, and future. I confess my wrongdoing before You and I hold onto Your promise of forgiveness. Help me now to see myself as You see me bearing the righteousness of Christ. Let me live according to Your truth. I pray this in Jesus' holy name. Amen.

My Father in Heaven, I am unmotivated and easily distracted in my academic pursuits. I often feel like I am not doing as well as I should. Grant me an increase in the fruit of patience and self-control by Your Spirit. Assist me in walking by Your Spirit so that I may focus on my study and honor You by studying to the best of my ability. Change my perspective on study so that I see it as a way I glorify You in this aspect of my life. Keep me from procrastination and lack of motivation. Give me the energy to tackle the subjects I have before me. I ask these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Heavenly Father, Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ,

I ask for you to join me in war against the enemy of discouragement.
I pray against a lack of confidence and hope for my loved one.
I pray in Jesus' name that your forces will defeat all that come against
life and love and holiness.

Bring him a miraculous intervention--
a resolution, a celebration, a season of hope and renewal--
because the forces that come with you are stronger than
the forces that come against him.

The war is already won.
But it'd be nice if you could just knock this battle out for him.
I know you want to grow him by bringing him through a valley.
He knows that.
We know that.
But life is still so hard,
and people can be so cruel.
They say things that discourage, deflate, and destroy
confidence, hope, and vision.

You understand.
Sometimes, you just can't take it anymore.

Give my loved one thick skin,
a tender touch,
and a gracious heart.
May he reach out when others push.
May he stand firm when others strike.

And while I'm praying--
I'd really like it if you'd let him win this one.
Make it a really satisfying defeat against the devil.

You'll get the credit, of course.

It's all you.
It's always you.

In Jesus' powerful name,
Amen.

My Jesus, relieve me of my discouragement.

My devotion has vanished; spiritual thoughts no longer soothe my troubled soul.

Even the remembrances of Your passion and of Your Blessed Mother grow dim before my vision.

O Jesus, do not forsake me. Help me, help me! I am resolved not to omit a single one of my devotions.

Hear me, O my God, strengthen and increase my faith. Keep me from yielding to temptation.

You said, My yoke is sweet; my burden is light. Have mercy on me, for wheresoever I turn I see only obstacles and difficulties. Were my faith strong I would accept my trials; but alas, I feel only impatience, doubt and discouragement. My soul, hold fast to Jesus.

How faint-hearted and childish I am! All my comfort, all my joy must come from You.

Bring me closer to You when temptations assail me.

Help me not to fail. O Lord, my God, I cast myself entirely into Your Hands.

Worn out by the struggle, I will rest beneath Your cross; pray for me in my desolation of soul. Jesus, be merciful to me.

Amen.

Abba Father, help me to recognize that you have called me to be faithful not successful. Help me to focus my efforts in pleasing You alone, not people. I will not take on more responsibility than You intend for me and I will be careful to humble myself as a faithful steward whatever the outcome; through Jesus Christ your benevolent Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, in Oneness and power, now and forever. Amen.

I will not worry about tomorrow, I will trust in my Heavenly Provider to meet the needs for today. For when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Thank you God for protecting me and caring for all of my needs. I am well taken care of; through Jesus Christ your benevolent Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, in Oneness and power, now and forever. Amen.

Lord God, I acknowledge that all my athletic ability comes from You. Everything that I am and all that I do is ultimately for You. It is hard for me to bear when others see me fail. Let me use this loss to increase my dependence on You and to not give up. Strengthen my body and sharpen my skills so that I achieve my goals. While I did not get the result I wanted, the success I long for cannot be found in my performance alone. I will continue to find my satisfaction in You. Amen.

My Heavenly Father, without a job, I feel I have no purpose. I know that there is a purpose You have given to me and I desire a job where I can fulfill this purpose. Just as You look after the sparrows and lilies, I know that You will look after me so much more. Help me remember not to worry or stress about finding work but instead to trust You. As You have taught me, let me ask for my daily bread and have the faith that You will provide it. May I look expectantly to a new day tomorrow with its possibilities. Amen.
