Prayer For Discouraged Person
Dear Lord I come to you in no other name but the name of Jesus. I come casting all my cares, concerns and troubles upon you because in you there is hope, unspeakable joy, unfailing love, all sufficient grace and endless mercy. According to your word in Matthew 11:28 you said come unto you all who are weary and heavy burdened and you will give rest. You also said your yoke is easy and your burden is light.
So Lord in the secret place of you the most high, let your river of grace gush through my soul. Quiet and renew my spirit with the fresh oil of your anointing. Let your balm in Gilead heal the wounds and remove the pain and discomfort in my heart.
Like Jabez prayed, I ask that you let your hands be upon me and keep me from the evil one. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10) In addition to enlarging my perspective on life and being able to see things through your eyes, I ask Lord that you enlarge my desire to do your perfect will each day. Expand my faith capacity and perfect your love in me to cast out every appearance of doubt and fear.
According to your word I am the light of the world (Matthew 5:14) so I ask Lord that you cause your light to illuminate in me and drive out darkness and the spirit of discouragement. Your word is also a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path-way (Psalm 119:105) so let your light beam through the valley of despair and allow me to take rest in you once again.
Thank you for helping me to receive your peace. Thank you for the refreshing rain that gives beauty for ashes, and brings consolation and joy in place of mourning and the garment of praise in exchange for the spirit of heaviness. (Isaiah 61:3) Keep my mind stayed on you so that you will keep me in your perfect peace. (Isaiah 26:3) that I may think only on the things that are true, noble, right, pure, authentic, excellent and worthy of praise unto your name. (Philippians 4:8) In Jesus name, amen.
"O God, you created both the heavens and the earth. By your Son, Jesus Christ, were all things created. All things were created by Him and for Him.
"The heavens declare your glory, your inexhaustible power and majesty. The heavens show your incomparable abilities.
"You formed the earth. You made and established it. You did not create it in vain, but in it determined an eternal purpose.
"You made humanity. You created man in your image, both male and female. You made mankind your vice-regent in the earth and placed him in the Garden of Eden. But the human race rebelled against your will, even as the serpent that tempted us had done. Consequently, our lot has been one of tragedy and loss, the worst of which has been our blindness to the beauty of your character the very image from which we were made.
"Yet the darkness cannot hide you. You have revealed yourself in the creation so that we are without excuse. Better still, you have also revealed yourself in the written Word, your Holy Book, the Bible, and the living Word, our Creator Redeemer, Christ
"Our Creator Redeemer recreates us afresh. He makes us new from within. He removes the scales from our eyes that we may see. He restores your image in us, for we are His workmanship, created in Him unto good works, which you foreordained that we should walk in them.
"Our assurance today is that as our Creator and Creator Redeemer, your power is unfailing. Your arm is not too short to save. Though the earth and the heavens shake, you are the everlasting God, the Lord, who faints not neither is weary whose wisdom is beyond our understanding. You give power to the faint strength to the weary wisdom to those who humbly seek it.
"Wherefore, when we suffer in this broken world, if it should be of Providence or at our own hands, we will commit our souls to a faithful Creator, whose mercy is from everlasting to everlasting, whose justice cannot be overruled, and who shall ultimately make every wrong right on that final day when time shall be no more.
"Thus we abandon our idols. All things were made by the Son and for Him. Nothing has significance without Christ. We shall look to nothing or no one else as our hope of salvation for this life or the one to come. We bow only before Him.
"O Lord, make us brothers, with one Father, and one purpose as you intended from the beginning.
"This is our hope and confidence now and forever more.
"For Christ's sake,
Amen."
Lord God Almighty, here I am to worship You. You are worthy of my worship regardless of how I feel. I know all too well my feelings are fickle. You are God. I am not. Thank goodness.
Thank You for Your watchful and gentle care over my life. Thank You for never giving up on me. You are patient. Thank You for always being there. You are faithful. Thank You for rescuing me from my own destruction. You are merciful. Thank You for cleansing me from all unrighteousness. You are forgiving. Thank You for freedom, freedom found only in Christ alone. Thank You for calling me as Your own.
Jesus, thank You for the love You showed for all of humanity on the cross. Your love amazes me.
Today I pause to pray for those struggling with discouragement or depression. You know who they are. You know them by name. You know the daily battle of their mind. You know how tired they are. You know their heart is heavy. You know they want deliverance sooner than later. You know the circumstances they find themselves in this week.
Please God, come and comfort Your people. Deliver them from evil. Be their Comforter, their hiding place, their rock. Please lift this burden. Nothing is too hard for You. May the discouraged and the depressed live to praise Your name. Give them a testimony of how great You are. Heal them and bring them hope again.
God, You know the end result of their lives and it is always good. You use hardships to shape Your people. Please Lord, let the discouraged see You in their today, in every day. Speak truth over the lies they are believing. Give them teachable, soft hearts to learn from whatever comes their way. Give them strength to fight back with prayer and praise. Do not let the enemy triumph over them another day. Victory is theirs because of Christ. May they believe that today.
Take their sorrow and bring them a new song. Lift the burden of darkness and shine Your loving light. May Your grace be sufficient for them today.
Jesus, the truth is we all need You, whether we find ourselves in a good place or not. We need You period. You are our life. In our weakness, You are strong. We can trust You today and all of our tomorrows. Following You requires perservance. The road feels long at times. Please Lord, strengthen us to walk with You. Hold our hand. Carry us if need be. Encourage us to press on to the greater prize. You! Today we fix our eyes on the eternal, for there will be our greatest reward: to see You face to face.
Oh to bow in holy worship for all eternity where there is no more tears, only love!
Lord God, we praise You. We love You. We adore You.
In Jesus' name, amen..
Gracious Father, your Word gives voice to every season, circumstance, and emotion we experience in the journey to gospel wholeness. In our delight and in our despair, in our certainty and in our frailty; in our cheers and in our fearsand in everything in between, you are with us and you are for us.
You don't love us more when we have a dancing heart. You don't love us less when we have a doubting heart. Delightful circumstances don't mean we've done everything right and hard providences don't mean we've done something wrong. Indeed, with kindness you drew us, and with an everlasting, unwavering love, you hold usno matter what.
Today we bring our discouraged, weary, deeply hurting friends to you, Lord. For you tell us that when one part of the Body hurts, the whole Body hurts. We are to rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. We fulfill the law of Christ by bearing one another's burdens.
Lord, sometimes it feels like life is just too much: the hard events, the difficult people, the aches and pains of this tent of a body; cars and plumbing that break down, friends who bury their wives way too early, children who seem allergic to the gospel, mounting bills and decreasing resources, and a worldeven family members who say, Where is your God in all this? What have you done wrong? Why are you holding on?
Tears in our coffee and beer, on our sandwiches and in our cereal, and dry tears when there is no heart water left. Lord Jesus, you know what this is likeyou better than anyone else. For you took the ultimate combination of assaults and insults on the cross, for me and my friends. Your cry, My God, my God, why have your forsaken me?, assures us we will never be forsakennever, even when life mocks our creed and confession. It's your thirst on the cross that assures us that out thirst is fleeting, though at times it feels fatal.
Lord Jesus, as we pant for you, you are running to us with the living water of the gospel; as we starve for hope, you are preparing the fresh bread of mercy and grace. Come quickly, Lord. Show us how to love our friends well when our words are simply not enough. So very Amen we pray, in your faithful and tender name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I draw closer to You in pray today as I feel fearful and discouraged. Negative feelings appear to have a very persistent grasp on me.
Help me Lord to lift my spirit. You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.
I know by the finished work of Jesus, my mind should be re-energized and rejuvenated. However, the negativity continues to throw me down.
