Prayer For Couples Struggling
Lord God, I am struggling very much right now. I have constantly made the wrong choice and have always fallen short in my attempts to love my true love, Rachel. I love her above all else other than You. My soul yearns for her more than anything. I am so happy to have found her. I truly believe you have sent her here to be with me forever. I knew ever since I saw her that I wanted to marry her and to start a family with her. We both have had that mutual feeling.
But now, it's fallen apart. My family is wanting me around a lot recently while she has been used to me being around a lot, and now I'm with her less and her expectations have been crushes by me. I ask that You give me the wisdom to make a decision that will lead to the restoration of our relationship, the strength to stand up against whatever hardships I face, and a strong will to never back down and to never give up. It is also difficult because she is a Sophomore in high school and I'm a Senior in high school and I'm about to go to college. So we will have such little time together. She wants to start the time apart soon. But, today, she has begun to have thoughts that this relationship won't last and that our hopes and dreams of marriage and starting a family are only a fantasy and I feel like I was once her true love, but not anymore, that I was her happiness, but not anymore. Please, Lord, grant her the hope and confidence she needs in order to follow through with this relationship. Please. I feel empty from just thinking about being separated from her. Grant us both the grace necessary to ensure that our lives will be spent together through the everlasting bonds of Marriage and that we may have a love that is free, total, faithful, and fruitful. Please, Lord, help me in this time of great need, pain, suffering, confusion, isolation, and depression and help restore to us the hope we need to keep this relationship going. I love you. Amen.
I promised that I would always love, honour, cherish and respect when I married. Sometimes it is hard to keep these promises.
Please reignite our love where it has faded.
Please help us to communicate our needs and understand one another.
Please help us to remember good times and to cherish new times together.
Please help us to forgive, and also to respect and enjoy our differences.
You are part of our vision, you know us both deeply, only you understand the problems we face.
So we trust in you to restore our love. We choose to live in your promises, to take each day and transform it into a beautiful picture, an intimate friendship, and a testament to your love through us.
Lord, my relationship has become difficult. There is fighting and unease. There's tension and resentment. I feel that I have nowhere to turn.
Please let there be peace between my partner and I. Grant us the kind of peace that only you can give, Lord, and help us to feel at ease with one another. Drain away any resentment, anger, or tension that has built up between us. Help us to seek compromise rather than struggling with one another in order to win.
Please bless our home to be a place of peace and restfulness, as it should be.
Thank you, Father. Amen.
Heavenly Father, I profess that I do not understand my partner's needs. I don't know how to fix our problems.
Please open my eyes to my partner so that I can see why he or she acts the way they do. And please help me to understand, too, my own motivations and needs so that I can know when I am in the wrong.
Lord, grant us both a greater understanding of one another, and take away the preconceived notions and assumptions that are keeping us from truly communicating. Bring my partner and I closer together, and closer to you, than ever before.
In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
Father God, I am struggling to understand my husband, and he doesn't understand me either. Things between us do not seem to be working. But Father God, I know that nothing is impossible with you. You know us inside and out. You know our hurts and pains and how to mend our broken hearts. Help us to understand each other. Remove any preconceived assumptions we have about each other from our hearts. Help us to see each other the way you see us. Bring us closer together than we were before. Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Dear God, we are going through one of the most challenging times in our relationship. Love and respect have been replaced by arguments and mistrust. Father, I am full of resentment, and so is my partner. Take away these feelings of resentment and give us peace and joy. Let peace reign when we communicate with each other. Let your spirit take control of our relationship. May we do things that are pleasing to you as a couple. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Father, give us peace as a couple. We argue and just don't get along with each other. I am not even sure we like each other anymore. We have done everything that we know how to do so we can keep our relationship together. But Father, we need to stop doing things our own way and start doing things your way. Show us your way. Guide our thoughts and our actions. Father, we know that your grace is sufficient for us as a couple. We have the confidence that we will have victory as a couple because we put our relationship in your hands. Our trust is in you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Father God, there is disharmony in our relationship. We have tried to reconnect, but things seem to be getting worse. Lord, you say in your word that two are better than one, and I believe this to be true. But God, right now, we are on the verge of a divorce and desperately need divine intervention to salvage our marriage. Rekindle our love so that we can remain as one. War on our behalf. Do not let the enemy come between us. Bind us with cords of love that can never be broken. Help us to understand each other's needs and give us wisdom so that we can rebuild this relationship. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen
