Prayer For College Graduates

Lord God,
Thank you for this special day.
Be with us as we celebrate the achievements of our studies.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

"Father God, we thank you for these graduating students. We pray that you will give them direction, purpose, and perseverance as they enter the next phrase of their lives. Give them clearness of mind to move forward into the plans and purposes that You have for them. May these young people gain wisdom from You and have discernment for proper behavior. Raise up Christian mentors for these graduates so they have someone who holds them accountable for their actions. We pray that they will rise above ungodly behaviors and have the boldness to stand up for what is right wherever they work, study, or socialize. Give them wisdom to spend their time and money wisely. Grant them success for their efforts at every turn and guide their feet to follow Your ways. May they be eager to do good and not evil all the days of their lives. Use them in might ways, Dear Father. In Jesus name, amen.

Please pray with me,
Our Father, God, how wonderful are the works of Your hands. As we gather here
today to celebrate a step forward into new places with new people and new
experiences, let us not forget the blessings that follow behind us. For this school, which
has given us a safe place to learn and a strong foundation to build upon as we take this
next step into Your world. For our teachers, who have so richly loved and cared for us,
even at our worst. For our families, who have cheered us on to the finish line and stood
by our side's through the many bumps in the road. And on this day especially, we thank
You for the friends that we have found among our classmates. For all the jokes that we
will laugh about in years to come, for the hardships and tears we have endured together
side by side, and for Your Love which has been made evident through the relationships
we will carry with us beyond these walls. Just as our school verse says, let us continue
to lay down our lives for each other just as You gave up Your life for each of us. Let us
love each other fearlessly and seek Your will earnestly all the days of our lives.
In Your Name we pray,
Amen.

God of joy and hope, we thank you for this time of graduation.

Your spirit of wisdom has empowered our hard work and discipline in such a way that our hunger for learning has been nourished with knowledge, discovery, creativity, and determination.

As we prepare to walk across the stage to receive our diplomas, let us walk in prayerful gratitude for the many blessings that have made this moment real and filled with great potential.

In gratitude, we pray for our families and the many who have sacrificed and worked to see us to this hopeful moment.

In gratitude, we pray for the professors and administrators who have challenged, cared, and crafted us along this academic journey.

In gratitude, we pray for fellow students who have taught us more about friendship, collaboration, and sharing.

God, even as we have faced challenges and accomplished much, we understand that our lives move into a new chapter where there will be more challenges to face and more will be demanded of us in order to accomplish good things. May your grace cover our anxieties and fears so that we may stay encouraged about the future.

Give us patience and hope to energize our search for work that is just and makes proper use of our gifts.

Give us courage to face the challenges of carving out a place in society where we might live in peace, service, and gratitude.

Give us strength to resist the temptations of greed, laziness, pride, and envy as we strive to do and be our best.

May your spirit guide us as we unfold the next chapters of our lives. Help us to enliven hope in the world and bring good things to Your Kingdom. And, may this celebration be a reflection of the blessings that we find in knowing and loving you. For this is the day that the Lord has made. We are glad and rejoice in it! Amen.

Dear God, we ask you for your powerful protection over our children as they go different places and embark on new journeys in life. We ask that you would watch over their paths, and keep their footsteps secure. Protect their coming and going. We ask that you would cover them from behind and guard them from all evil. We pray that no weapon formed against them will prosper and that you would be their constant shield and defender from the enemy's attacks. Please hide them in your shadow of your wings; be their refuge and security in every place they go. We pray that you would give them a deep awareness of sin, that they would be quick to confess when they've done wrong and have the heart to make it right. We ask for freedom from condemnation or fear. We pray that you would help them when they face temptations in this life, remembering that you are always there and able to help them overcome. We ask you to guard their steps from evil, give them diligence in turning away from what is wrong, that they would be bold to say no to what is wrong and yes to what is right.

Dear God, we ask that you help our children to walk in your wisdom and grace. We pray for spiritual eyes and discernment in all things. Help them to be wise leaders and influencers in this generation, not conformed to the world, but transformed by your power. We ask that you would equip them with all that they need to make a difference for your purposes. Help them to live as salt and light in a dark world that so desperately needs to know your truth. We ask for your power to help them to walk continually in honesty and integrity. Build within them deep godliness, that they would be more concerned about their character than their reputation. We pray that they would seek to bring honor to You throughout their lives, that they would have a vision and heart for the world. Extend their boundaries and give them incredible influence with people and nations. Make their hearts and spirits open to every plan and purpose you have for them, and to be willing to boldly go wherever You call.

Dear Father, we rejoice today over the wonderful accomplishments of discipline, determination and self sacrifice that have led to this day of college graduation for the special graduates near and dear to us.

It has been a great gift from You that they were able to learn from experts and teachers in their chosen field and that they are now prepared to give of themselves in service in the realms of business, the academic world, the arts, medicine, education, government, social action and ministry.

May the skills they have developed managing their time, setting priorities and keeping focused during exams be the foundation on which they build successful careers and lives.

Our greatest prayer for them today is that they continue to be lifelong learners who recognize their need to constantly discover more about You, the source of all knowledge and truth. Help them to be diligent in their quest to know You and to discover how You want them to live.

As they deliberate over life changing decisions about jobs, careers, homes, marriages and family may they seek and find Your guidance. And after they have made these decisions, may they constantly seek Your daily help to faithfully live out their chosen callings.

Fill our graduates with gratitude, humility, love and faith. Teach them how to pray. Give them spiritual wisdom and discernment.

Help them to hear Your voice and not the voice of culture. Give them the wisdom and courage to say no to the temptation to put self and things at the center of their lives.

Send them strong Christian friends and spouses. Teach them the joys of service and generosity. Keep them close to their families and open to the wisdom of their elders. Help them learn from their mistakes and failures. Show them where to go for help when they need it.

We are aware that as we pray our graduate's future into your hands, You are placing the future of Your World and Your Kingdom into their hands. Thank you for bringing all of us to this wonderful day. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Amen.
