Prayer For A Loss Of A Loved One
O Lord, my God, you are my refuge and strength in times of trouble. Meet me in my sorrow and lift my eyes to the peace and light of your compassionate hand. You have promised that you are near to the brokenhearted and close to those who are crushed in spirit. Draw near to me, Lord, and may I find comfort in your presence. Give rest to my troubled heart and replace my fear with faith. You are eternally gracious, merciful and caring. Send your Holy Spirit to comfort me in the light of your glory and grace. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Everlasting Father, thank you that you are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Your word says that when I pass through the waters, you will be with me, the rivers will not sweep over me, the fire will not burn me. As my grief feels overwhelming, I ask that you would hold me secure. Remind me that your strength is made perfect in my weakness. May your love be the passion in my heart. May your joy be my strength when times are hard. May your presence be my peace that overflows. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Creator God, thank you that you made the universe and everything in it. You made mankind in your own image and have promised an inheritance of eternal life. I thank you for the life of my loved one, the love I received from him/her, and the memories that I cherish of him/her. I rejoice in your promises of pardon, joy and peace to all those who love you. Show me mercy in my grief and give me joy through your Holy Spirit. Comfort me in my grief, Lord. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prince of Peace, thank you that you hear and answer my prayers. You have promised that those who hope in you will have their strength renewed. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint. Give me the strength to endure this time of mourning and grief at the loss of my loved one. God of immeasurable mercies, I thank you that you are the Lord of life. I praise you that we are made in your image, reflecting your truth and light. Have compassion on my grief Lord and fill my hearts with thanksgiving to you. I wait with eager anticipation for the resurrection of the dead at the return of Jesus Christ. Lord, I'll just be honest: I feel like everything good has been taken from me. And I feel like You've let it happen. Can I admit that to You? Thank you for being big enough to handle all my fears, angers, and uncertainties. Lord, thank you for this truth: I am afflicted in every way, but not crushed, perplexed but not driven to despair, struck down but not destroyed. Lord, help me- give me Your Spirit, help me know Your goodness even in the midst of this pain. Help me out of this pit, Lord, and onto steady ground. Thank You God for never leaving me. Dear Lord, Thank You that there is healing in Your presence. I call on Your Name now, Jesus, and invite The Holy Spirit to come near and touch me with Your healing balm. I release my sorrow to You, and I ask You to fill every void in my heart with Your peace and love. Thank You for my loved one's life on earth and for the time I had with them. I release them to You, entrusting You to care for them for all eternity, knowing that I will see them again in Your timing. I choose to praise You at all times. Thank You for healing my heart. I love You Jesus. In Your Holy Name, Amen.
My heart is feels like a thousand knives are running through it. I am weary, spent, and just so sad. Please, help me! Hear my prayers. Hold me and my family up. Give us strength. Be present. Be persistent in your love. Carry us through this heartache. Sustain us. Bring us joy and hope.
