Scripture Reading
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Reflection
A fruit tree does not strain to produce apples; the fruit is the natural result of a healthy tree with good roots. The fruit of the Spirit is not something we manufacture through spiritual effort but something that grows as we abide in the Spirit. The question is not 'Am I trying hard enough to be more loving?' but 'Am I staying connected to the source of love?' Tend the roots; the fruit will follow.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank you that I am never alone, your presence calms the troubled sea of my life and speaks peace to my soul. Your word says that my faith will never be put to shame when my trust is in you. Hear my prayer as I ask for comfort in dealing with the loss of my loved one. Help me to find strength and peace in your presence. Restore joy to my soul. Lord, bless me and keep me, make your face shine upon me. Turn your face towards me and give me peace. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Amen.
