Slow to Anger, Abounding in Love

Scripture Reading

Psalm 103:8-10

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
Reflection
One of the most repeated descriptions of God in Scripture is 'slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.' This is the God we pray to — not a God waiting to condemn but a God who is merciful and gracious. He does not treat us as our sins deserve. This is not cheap grace but costly love, rooted in the cross. Receive today the mercy that has been given to you freely and generously.
Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world,
we pray for your servant N.,
and commend him/her to your mercy.
For his/her sake you came down from heaven;
receive him/her now into the joy of your kingdom.
For though he/she has sinned,
he/she has not denied the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
but has believed in God
and has worshipped his/her Creator.
Amen.

Amen.
