Scripture Reading
Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."
Reflection
Lenten prayer is not passive — it is a persistent reaching toward God. Jesus uses three intensifying verbs: ask, seek, knock. Each implies movement, effort, and trust that God is on the other side of that door. When we fast from distractions and discipline ourselves to pray, we discover what we have always known in part: God is answering before we even finish speaking.
Prayer for Today
O Lord, the God of mercies, grant unto the souls of Thy servants the anniversary day of whose burial we are keeping, a place of solace, of peaceful rest, of glorious light.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Through Christ our Lord,
