Scripture Reading
Matthew 5:14-16
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Reflection
Jesus does not say "become the light" but "you are the light" — it is already your identity, not your aspiration. A lamp under a bowl is not modest; it is wasteful. The light you carry — the love, truth, and grace you have received — is meant to benefit those around you. Do not conceal it for fear of standing out. Shine today, and let the attention it draws be directed toward God.
Prayer for Today
Eternal God, You told Jeremiah not to find fault in his age, you told him to not say I am only a youth' because everywhere You sent him, he will go, and whatever You command him, he shall speak. Lord I pray that the youth in every church do not feel
inferior due their age, instead please strengthen them so that they can go wherever You send them to spread Your message as missionaries for Your Kingdom; this is the prayer of our hearts, Amen.
