Forgive as You Have Been Forgiven

Scripture Reading

Colossians 3:13

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Reflection
The standard Paul sets for forgiveness is simultaneously simple and staggering: forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. We are not asked to forgive from our own reserves of magnanimity, which are limited, but from the overflow of grace we ourselves have received, which is limitless. The person who has grasped the depth of their own forgiveness finds, over time, that the capacity to forgive others grows. Begin there.
Prayer for Today
Oh gracious God, enlighten my mind and heart with truth, love, mercy, gratitude and compassion. Give me the courage to follow you daily in faith, love and hope. In my busy day help me
to think of you now and then.

Make me aware of the needs of the people around me. Help me to be grateful for what I have and help those with so much less. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Amen.
