Prayer For Veterans

Heavenly Lord, I bring before You the men and women who have been called to serve our country in the armed forces, on land, sea and in the air, and who have spent much of their lives participating in the protection of our shores and land, from the enemy that would seek to do us harm. Thank You, for the selfless way that so many have been used to maintain our freedoms through their courageous acts, both at home and abroad.

Thank You for each one. Bless them abundantly, and I pray that You would be their strength and stay, and that You would graciously supply them with all they need to continue to serve our country in a retired capacity.

And Lord, for veterans and those in the armed forces that do not yet know You as their Saviour, I do pray that You would draw near to each one and make Yourself known, so that they may come to trust in Jesus as Saviour and come to be a soldier in the army of the King of kings and Lord of lords, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

Father, we remember the families of the many veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives, in the defence of their home and country and also for those veterans who have been seriously wounded or have sustained permanent injuries, that have left them disabled and unable to continue their military career.

We ask that You would be mindful of the needs of the families and loved ones of those that have died in the call of duty, and also for those who have lost their career due having become disabled or injured during the course of their military career.

We pray that You would show grace and mercy on each one and that You would supply them with all that they need to face an uncertain future. Draw each one into Your arms of love. Convict those who do not know You as their Saviour of their need of salvation, and grant all those that are Your children the perfect peace that only comes from You. In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the men and women who have served our country in one or other of our armed forces and I particularly bring before You today those who have fallen sick, been injured or have suffered some long-term health or emotional problem, through the traumas that they have had to experience while serving abroad.

Father, I know that You alone are the one that can heal the heart as well as the body. Only You can cure the inner pain as well as ease the other injuries, and I lift each one up to You and pray that in Your grace and mercy You would meet them at their point of need.

For those that know You as their Saviour, I pray that You would strengthen them in the inner man and give them the peace of God in their hearts that passes understanding. For those that are unsaved, Lord I pray that they may come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Saviour and that in Your grace You would minister to each and every need as You see fit. I ask this in the name of Jesus,

Amen.

God of power and might,
at every moment and in every place
you are near to those who call upon your name in faith.
In marriage you have blessed us with a share in your divine love.
Look upon my husband/wife and keep him/her in your safekeeping,
no matter where the road may lead.
And when the battle is ended,
bring him/her safely home to those who love him.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All-powerful and ever-living God,
when Abraham left his native land
and departed from his people
you kept him safe through all his journeys.
Protect these soldiers.
Be their constant companion and their strength in battle,
their refuge in every adversity.
Guide them, O Lord, that they may return home in safety.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Lord God, Almighty Father,
creator of mankind and author of peace,
as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess,
we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces.
Give them courage, hope and strength.
May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing.
Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light.
To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever.

Amen.

Dear God,

We thank you for the freedom you have given to us, and for the price that was paid by Christ so that we could live free. We remember today. The cost of it all. The great sacrifice for freedom.

We thank you for the brave who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. We ask for your covering and blessing over them and their families. We pray that you would be gracious and encircle them with your peace. We pray for your great favor and goodness to be evident in their lives.

Please be with the men and women in uniform, who serve our communities and nation every single day. We ask that you provide your protection, that you would be their guiding force who leads the way, and their rear guard who keeps them safe from behind. We ask that you would draw them to yourself amidst the dangers they face in a dark world, for you are the Truth, you are the Way, you are the Light.

When the voice of hate rises up against them, we ask that you would silence it. When the plans of the enemy rise up to cause them to stumble, we ask that you would thwart it. When the forces of evil rise up to strike them down, we ask that you would stop it. Lord, we know how powerful you are, all have heard of your Great Name, and we ask that you would indeed be the wind beneath their wings, the power behind their efforts, the heart behind their service, as they are on the front lines against evil in our world today.

Help them to walk wisely. To stay covered in your armor. Give them godly discernment. Make them constantly aware of what lurks close by. Help them to be men and women of prayer, realizing that this is where their greatest help comes from. Help them to stay united and strong, bold and resolute, determined and unwavering.

Lord bless all those who wear the uniform, who serve our cities, our nation, our people. Bless their families. Bless those they love. Give them your great favor, this day, and every day.

Thank you that in our nation today, we are free to worship. We are free to pray. We are free to read your Word. We are free to speak. We are free to share. For this, we are incredibly grateful. Yet, we understand how quickly these freedoms can be taken away. Give us an increased awareness of the spiritual battle we're in. Help us to stand strong in you and for your purposes.

Thank you that as believers, we can be assured, you never leave us, and you are with us always, in this life, and the next.

In the Powerful Name of Jesus,

Amen.
