Prayer For Those In The Path Of A Storm
God of all Creation,
You fashioned heaven and earth, the sea and sky, and all creatures of the world.
You are the master of the seasons, and all of the elements obey your commands.
Even in all of your glory and greatness, you remain faithful to those who call on your name.
Be with those in the path of the storm.
Send your Spirit over the waters as you did at the dawn of time.
Speak your Word to calm the winds, rains and the hearts of those who are in its path.
Protect them from harm, bring them to safety and make of us a warm welcome.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, who walked on the water, calmed the waves and is ever-present in the storms we endure. Amen.
Graciously hear us, O Lord, when we call upon You, and grant unto our supplications a calm atmosphere, that we, who are justly afflicted for our sins, may, by Your protecting mercy, experience pardon. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
"Heavenly Father: we pray to You for those on the perilous ocean that You will embrace them with your mighty protection and grant them success in all their rightful undertakings. Grant them in all hours of need to see that they have a God who remembers
them, and grant them grace in the hour of danger to commit their souls into Your hands. 0 Lord Jesus Christ, Who can rebuke the storm and bring it to silence, and lay the roaring waves to rest, show them who call to You
out of the deep that You hear their prayer and will save them. And finally bring us all to the only safe port.
Amen."
Gracious God,
In the face of nature's fury, we feel feeble and small. We acknowledge our fear and powerlessness when confronted by forces that feel far beyond our control. We tremble at the prospects of catastrophe, of loss of life and possession, and we remember all we felt in the face of hurricanes in our past.
But you are the voice within the whirlwind, the Spirit who hovers over the face of the deep, and the Savior who walks upon the waves and torrent. Your prophet Isaiah reminds us that when we pass through the waters, you will be with us; when we pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over us.
So, we pray for the people along the Atlantic coast. Strengthen them to be best prepared for these coming hours. Grant them wisdom to know whether to evacuate or remain. Gird them with peace for the harrowing process of waiting for the storm's arrival, and endurance to recover and rebuild in its wake. Most of all, we pray for a sense of your steady presence among them, and a spirit of solidarity so that no one faces these days alone.
Then, as the winds subside and the waters recede, call all of us to be the hands and feet of Christ, in ready response to the hurting and heartbroken. Transform our fears into fire, our concern into compassion, and our prayers into generous response.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Stiller of the Storms,
Amen.
Father, we pray for mercy amidst these storms. You are able to turn it around for good. Empower us to do the greater works You spoke of and speak peace to fearful hearts, including our own. We speak "peace be still!" to the raging storms. Let this prayer be carried in the wind and we pray that our faith stand strong as we speak Your Word over the elements, for greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. You gave us dominion over all the works of Your hands. Forgive us Father, for any unbelief. Forgive us as a nation and nations, for turning away from You. Have mercy upon us, according to Your loving kindness. We stand in the gap today and cry "spare Your people oh Lord!". Hide us in You that we may continue to intercede for those who don't know You. Save souls in the midst of the shaking. You are a merciful and gracious God, full of compassion. We love You and thank You for answering all our prayers, according to your abundant mercy. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Awesome, omnipotent, Creator God.
We worship You as One
who laid the earth's foundations.
who marked off its dimensions,
who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb,
who made the clouds its garment,
who fixed limits for it, and
who said, This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt'.
We remember when You watched Your disciples struggling in the storm on Galilee, then walked across the water, climbed into their boat when they called out to You, and commanded the wind and waves to be still. And they obeyed!
As Hurricane Harvey threatens the Gulf area, we are asking You to look on the residents of the Gulf area. We cry out to You on their behalf. We know that the wind and the waves still know Your voice. Command them to be still. Please. For the glory of Your great name.
Even now, we ask that You comfort those in the path of the storm; give wisdom to the local, state, and federal officials; encourage neighbors, friends, and families to meet this threat together. Grant them mercy. Save them. Keep Your promise, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
You are Immanuel. God with us. Facing this storm. Now.
We cling to You.
In the name of the One whom the waves and winds still obeyJESUS.
Amen
God of the Universe, at the dawn of creation, your Spirit breathed on the waters, making them the wellspring of all holiness. You created the oceans and rivers, and all that dwell within them, and at your word, the wind and the waves were born.
The seasons follow your plan, and the tides rise and fall on your command. In both calm and storm, you are with us.
On the Sea of Galilee, even when the disciples began to fear, Jesus showed that he was Lord over the waters by rebuking the storms, so that all would know that even the wind and the waves obey him.
