Prayer For Those Lost At Sea

O ETERNAL Lord God, who alone spreadest out the heavens, and rulest the raging of the sea; who hast compassed the waters with bounds until day and night come to an end: Be pleased to receive into thy Almighty and most gracious protection the persons of us thy servants, and the Fleet in which we serve. Preserve us from the dangers of the sea, and from the violence of the enemy; that we may be a safeguard unto our most gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen ELIZABETH, and her Dominions, and a security for such as pass on the seas upon their lawful occasions; that the inhabitants of our Island may in peace and quietness serve thee our God; and that we may return in safety to enjoy the blessings of the land, with the fruits of our labours; and with a thankful remembrance of thy mercies to praise and glorify thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear Lord, I pray that sailors will experience You whilst they journey for long periods of time. As they go off to sea doing business on great waters, I pray that they too, will observe Your power in action and Your excellent works in the deep. Help them to know that You command and raise the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves of the sea. Lord, let them see Your beauty in the nature that they are surrounded by, this we ask, Amen.

Eternal Father, strong to save,

Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,

Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep

Its own appointed limits keep;

Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,

For those in peril on the sea!

For all those who are in peril on the sea this day, prayers of protection. For all those in danger of being lost at sea, prayers of rescue. For all of us who may be wandering in some state of lost, prayers of finding solid ground, prayers of finding home.

Heavenly Father, I pray that You will be the ultimate guide for sailors at sea. I declare stillness over the atmosphere and I pray against hazardous weather conditions, so that they can be brought safely to harbor. I praise You Lord for Your great love and for the wonderful things You have done and will continue to do for them! Thank You in advance for their safe journey in Jesus Name, Amen.

Dear Lord, I pray for sailors at sea and we pray that in line with Your Word, they will call out to You at any time, during any storm, knowing that You will hear. It is You who is in control of the sea and it is You who calms all storms so that the waves are still. Lord, I pray that those at sea will travel with Your heavenly authority so that they may be protected and remain at peace; this is the prayer of our hearts, Amen.

LORD, as the waters rise and the rain keeps coming we pray relief for all those impacted by the water and winds of Hurricane Harvey. Comfort those who grieve the loss of life, the loss of their homes and shelter, the loss of normalcy and safety. Grant strength and courage to the helpers, the rescuers, the ones extending mercy and care to those reeling from the trauma of the storm. May their efforts and the prayers of the nation offer hope and hold out the possibility of better days to come.

As the extent of the devastation becomes known to us, Lord God, we pray for resilience and a strong sense of community. In the midst of disaster and its aftermath, so much of what kept us at odds with one another seems meaningless. The needs of those suffering overwhelm any obstacles to our coming together; we seek the good in one another in ways that transform how we view each other. Take that spirit of neighborliness and magnify it around the nation. Grant us such compassion for our brothers and sisters impacted by Harvey that we cannot help but reach out to them and to one another, not just today but in the months and years of recovery to come.

May our care show forth your love and light to those who suffer and make tangible the truth that they are not alone. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Almighty God, in whose prophets through the ages we have seen and heard your love and justice clearly proclaimed,

And in whose Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, you have definitively declared the worth of human persons,

We pray today for all Australians:

Forgive us when we fail to recognise the right of the other person to be different, and fail to defend the vulnerable and voiceless, and fail to offer hospitality to those fleeing real danger and persecution.

Give us eyes to see the plight of our fellow human beings on the high seas and in detention.

Give us ears to hear their cries and their stories, to learn their names.

Give us lips to encourage them, and speak for them, and change hard hearts.

Give us hands and feet to love them, welcome them, care for them, and restore their honour as Jesus would.

Lord, give us a new imagination for what our nation and our world should be, and instil in all of us the courage and hope and wisdom we need to get from here to there.

We pray this in the strong name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Eternal Lord God, who alone spreads out the heavens and rules the raging of the seas, receive into your protection all those who go down to the sea in ships and occupy their business on the great waters
