Prayer For The Soul Of The Departed

O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who hast trampled down death and overthrown the Devil, and given life to Thy world, do Thou, the same Lord, give rest to the souls of Thy departed servants in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, where all sickness, sighing, and sorrow have fled away. Pardon every transgression which they have committed, whether by word or deed or thought. For Thou art a good God and lovest mankind; because there is no man who lives yet does not sin, for Thou only art without sin, Thy righteousness is to all eternity, and Thy word is truth.

For Thou are the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Thy servants who have fallen asleep, O Christ our God, and unto Thee we ascribe glory, together with Thy Father, who is from everlasting, and Thine all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever unto ages of ages. Amen.

Dear God, with faith and hope
I pray for the eternal welfare and
well being of my deceased loved ones,
especially . . . (here mention names.)
Raise them up to the fullness
of new life, and bring them to the
company and perfection of Your Saints,
to enjoy everlasting rest and peace in
Your presence.
May Christ, the Good Shepherd,
bring my beloved deceased safely
home to You, and may they be happily
reunited with family, relatives and
friends who have gone before them into
the Heavenly paradise.
Grant comfort, strength and
consolation to all who grieve and mourn
as we await our eternal reward, to be
home again with You and those we have
loved in this life, and into the life to
come. Amen.

God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust. Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever. Amen.

My God! I recommend to Thee the souls of my relations,
my benefactors, my friends and my enemies,
and of those who are in Purgatory on my account.

I recommend to Thee the souls of evangelical labourers,
of Religious and priests,
and especially of those who had charge of my soul.

I recommend to Thee the souls of those
who were most devout to the passion of Our Lord,
to the Blessed Sacrament,
to the Blessed Virgin Mary,
the souls who are most abandoned,
those who suffer most,
and those who are nearest to the entrance into paradise.

Lord Jesus, our Redeemer,
you willingly gave yourself up to death,
so that all people might be saved
and pass from death into a new life.
Listen to our prayers;
look with love on your people
who mourn and pray for their brother (sister).

Lord Jesus, holy and compassionate,
forgive N. his (her) sins.
By dying you opened the gates of life
for those who believe in you:
do not let our brother (sister) be parted from you,
but by your glorious power
give him (her) light, joy, and peace in heaven,
where you live for ever and ever.

Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord our God, that the souls of Thy servants and handmaidens, the memory of whom we keep with special reverence, and for whom we are bidden and are bound to pray, and the souls of all our benefactors, relatives and connections, and all the faithful, may rest in the bosom of Thy saints; and hereafter, in the resurrection from the dead, may please Thee in the land of the living. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

O God, the bestower of forgiveness and the lover of human salvation, we beseech Thee, of Thy tender love, to grant that the brethren of our congregation, with their relatives and benefactors, who have passed out of this life, may, by the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, and all thy saints, come to the fellowship of eternal bliss. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for us. If it were not for your great sacrifice, we would all be lost forever. I want to thank you for the life of our departed soul, [name]. He/She loved everyone and strived to make a positive impact in the lives of those with whom he/she interacted. Lord, as we celebrate a life well-lived, we ask you to grant him/her eternal peace. May [name] find full rest in you and join the heavenly hosts in singing your glory. In Jesus' name, we believe and pray, Amen.
