Prayer For The Sick Loved One

Heavenly Father, you say that I should ask you for whatever I need. To those who ask, it will be given. To those who seek, it will be found. To those who knock, the door will be opened. I ask you for healing for my loved one right now Lord and pray that you would answer my request. You are a loving, good Father who gives good gifts to his children. You love to give good gifts to those who ask. As your humble child, I ask for the gift of healing today. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Lord Jesus our healer, you know what it is like to experience pain. You know what it's like to experience sorrow at the suffering of your friends. You wept at the tomb of Lazarus. I thank you that you not only know what it is like but that you have the power to transform those situations. After weeping at the tomb, you raised Lazarus from the dead. Sin, pain and sickness are no match for your healing power. You bore our sins in your body on the tree and by your wounds, we are healed. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Jesus, When it came time for you to comfort your disciples you told them about the home you were preparing for them in heaven. Thank you for knowing we need the assurance that this life is not the end, and the promise that _________ will have eternity in heaven with you. For the pain and suffering he must endure now, please reassure his mind and help him to grasp onto the truth that he will be with you, and heaven will be his forever home. Please strengthen him with the knowledge that you will be the one to wipe away all his tears, and that there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. Though he can't see it now and it is beyond our human abilities to comprehend, give him faith to continue to believe your promise to help sustain him each moment of this journey. Amen.

As my Good Shepherd, Jesus, I know you will lead me beside quiet places and restore my soul and body. I trust you and want to follow your leading. Help me to welcome this time not as an interruption in my carefully planned schedule, but as an opportunity to draw strength and nourishment for the journey ahead. You are my healer and my Great Physician. I look to you and give thanks for the promises in your Word that assure me of your presence and your help.

Teach me what you want me to learn during these unpleasant times, Lord. Help me not to take out my discomfort on those around me, and show me how to be a good patient while I'm recovering. In these days of sickness, Lord, I'm trusting you and asking you to make me well. And when you've restored my health, give me wisdom so I can treat my body as the temple of your Spirit. I'm eager to get back on my feet serving you, but I realize that even in sickness, I can still draw near to you. Thank you, Jesus!

Heavenly Father, It is so hard to watch _________ suffer. It doesn't seem fair for her to have to endure so much pain. Even though I am powerless, I believe that you are powerful and capable of stepping into this situation and completely altering the outcome. In faith, I am responding to the promises in your word that you listen to our prayers and those prayers can make her well. So, I am bringing my friend before you to ask for your healing touch in her life. Thank you for the forgiveness of sin and the promise of eternal healing, but I am asking you to provide healing for her on this side of heaven. Amen

Dear Jesus,

You walked on the earth, understood the broken world, yet also rose from death into resurrected life. I pray for my loved one that they would be held at this time in your loving arms. Bless the work of the doctors, surgeons and hospital staff, and bring the power of your resurrection life into their body. Come fill my loved one from top to toe with your restorative Spirit. May your resurrection life bring healing and wellness into their being. May your grace carry them through this hard time into a new season filled with hope and joy.

Amen.

God of all hope, I look to you in times of need. You are the healing God, please bring healing to my loved one. You are the saving God, please save those who I care about so deeply. You are worthy of all praise, help us not to turn our back on you but to approach you with thanksgiving. You are the spring of living water, help us find life in all its fullness in you.
