Prayer For The Beginning Of The School Year For Teachers

Lord, Give us insight to see realistically "what is"; but make us dreamers and give us vision of all the possibilities for "what can be." Use us as your instruments to form, inform, reform, and transform those who come to us. We ask this in your name, Jesus Christ. Amen

Lord Jesus, we ask for Your help as we begin this new school year. Allow us to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before us. Open our eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings. Open our heart and mind to new friends and new teachers. Give us a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with our studies and courage to accept new opportunities. Help us to be attentive to one another and let us experience Your presence in our new friends. Jesus, inspire us to do our best this year! Amen

Help me to be a fine teacher, to keep peace in the classroom, peace between my students and myself, to be kind and gentle to each and every one of my students. Help me to be merciful to my students, to balance mercy and discipline in the right measure for each student, to give genuine praise as much as possible, to give constructive criticism in a manner that is palatable to my students. Help me to remain conscientious enough to keep my lessons always interesting, to recognize what motivates each of my students, to accept my students' limitations and not hold it against them. Help me not to judge my students too harshly, to be fair to all, to be a good role model, but most of all Lord help me to show your love to all of my students.
Amen.

Dear God,
Grant our teachers an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones, and may we make sure to show them love and respect in return. Give them grace as they help students who aren't thriving, courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small - yet incredibly important - ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come.
Amen.

Gracious God, we come to you at the beginning of this academic year
with our many feelings, expectations, fears and hopes.
Help us to remember, however, we have the comforting
assurance from you: "I will always be with you."

Loving God, for all of us this is a time of transition. It is transition
from the work and leisure of summer back to the classroom.
It is transition from time spent with family and friends.
Give us patience with ourselves as we transition as well as
patience with one another.

Faithful God, this beginning is totally new for some among us.
Turn the sadness of leaving families to openness to new friends
and opportunities. Turn the anxiety about academics to a quiet confidence in the way
you have blessed us in the past.
Give us a new perspective to see persons, events, and academic work as an
invitation to develop the many gifts you have given us to be used in service for others.

Creator God, some in our community are moving into their last year at Marquette.
Bless them with your gifts of awe and wonder at the friends they have made,
the way their minds and hearts have been changed, and the many opportunities
that lie ahead. Give them the gift of discernment to make the right choices about the future.

Finally, God, give to each member of the Marquette Community the seven
gifts of the Spirit: wisdom, understanding, right judgment, courage, knowledge,
reverence, and awe and wonder.

Amen.

Dear Lord,

I lift up our teachers and ask Father that as classrooms fill up with new students this year, that you will enable and guide each and every teacher and staff member of the school.

Help them to teach and care for our children with love, honor, and respect.

Fill their hearts with your love and their minds with your wisdom and give them the strength and patience to be the best teacher they can be.

I ask Lord that you would cover the school with your protective hand and send each student, teacher, and staff member home safely each day.

Thank you for those that instruct our children for they are a blessing.

I pray this is Jesus' most precious name Amen.

Dear God,

I want to thank You for the selfless and passionate teachers and educators that You have blessed this world with.

While on earth, Your Son, Jesus Christ, spent every single day of His ministerial life imparting Your Wisdom to all who would listen, and His teachings are still transforming our lives today.

And so, God, we have come to understand just how important and honorable the work of teaching is.

As this school year begins, I ask that You fill each teacher with the patience it takes to nurture the minds of their students and the wisdom it takes to impart values that will shape students into valuable members of society.

Please, help teachers to train with diligence and correct with love.

Lord, flood the heart of every teacher with love and compassion and give them the strength to persevere in the dignified task that You have called them to.

Help them to be worthy role models for the students they inspire walking the walk just as they talk the talk.

Teach our teachers the right path to lead our children, so that, according to Your Word in Proverbs 22:6, they will stick to it throughout their lives.

And give our teachers the grace to stay true to Romans 12:7 and teach with all their hearts.

Your Spirit, oh God, is the Great Teacher. Teach our teachers the best means and methods to get through to each and every student appropriately.

Fill them with power, love and soundness of mind, dispelling every fear, just like Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:17.

And according to 2 Timothy 2:15, may each teacher work to please You, Lord, confidently imparting the truth to every student placed in their care.

I ask these things in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Dear Teacher,

I thank God for the gift of dedicated and hardworking people like yourself who keep the wheel of knowledge rolling from generation to generation.

You are an invaluable member of society, and although it may not always seem like it, I want you to always remember that the job you do is making a difference that will last for generations to come.

You, dear Teacher, are a bright light, a friendly face and a gentle guide to all the kids under your tutelage, and that is no small responsibility.

You have been entrusted with the task of molding the future, and, I must tell you, you're doing a marvelous job.

It takes a big heart to shape little minds, and I'm grateful that you have a ginormous heart.

I leave you this charge, from 1 Corinthians 15:58, to be steady and unshaking in the work that the Lord has assigned to you, with the blessed assurance that you are not laboring in vain.

Galatians 6:9 also urges you to keep up the good work because you'll reap a bountiful harvest as long as you don't give up.

God bless you, dedicated Teacher.
