Prayer For Son Going To College

Dear God, finding contentment in you alone while in college is proving to be very challenging. Sometimes I want to fit in with different groups that are around, but when I do that, I don't find the same contentment I get when I draw to you. Please, Lord, help me to focus on you that I may find comfort in you alone. In Jesus' name, I believe and pray, Amen.

Heavenly Father, please give me the gift of discernment that I may be able to know the right company. Please help me to choose friends that share my faith and values. May I keep a company of wise friends that will help me to become a better person in my studies and my relationship with you. Please teach me how to be a good friend to my college friends. May wish we strive to become the people you've created us to be. In Jesus' name, I believe and pray, Amen.

Father God, you have opened up doors for me to go to college, and I am grateful for that. But honestly, Father, I am terrified because it is a new place with new people and cultures. I don't know how to fit in without compromising my values and faith in you. Be my shield and guide, protect me from the temptations that college students go through. Guard my mind and heart, and spread your protection that I may rejoice over you. In Jesus' name, I believe and pray, Amen.

Oh God, I am being tempted to drift away from my faith and walk in the path of wicked people by my college friends. Lord, please guide me in paths of peace, for I cannot do this without you. Connect me with the right advisors when I'm in college that I may not fall in faith and my education. Establish my steps and lead me in paths of righteousness. May I listen to my teachers carefully and add to my learning. Please grant me the gift of discernment that I may be able to get guidance. Lead me in the way that I should go and counsel me with your loving eyes. Let your word be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path that my college life may bring glory to your name. In Jesus' name, I believe and pray, Amen.

Dear Jesus, even though you faced a lot of challenges, you stood firm and fulfilled the purposes that had been laid out for you before the foundation of the world. Lord, having been here, you know the challenges we go through daily. That is why I come before you to ask you, king of glory, to help me serve God faithfully even when it is hard. Being a faithful servant in college is very difficult because people make fun of us and mock us every day because of our faith in you. Please grant me the courage to stand firm in my faith and to serve you faithfully for the rest of my life. Thank you for answering my prayers, Amen.

Father God, as I go back to college, I ask for grace, peace, and love. Be my guide everywhere I go. May I hear your voice everywhere I turn whether to the left or right, telling me the way that I should go. Holy Spirit of God, guide me in all truths that I may not stray from the ways of the Lord. May I be sensitive to your voice Lord Jesus that I may not follow the voice of the evil one and join bad groups. In Jesus' name, that I believe and pray, Amen.

Lord, thank you for enabling me to join college, many looked forward to this, but they did not manage to get into any college, I don't take this for granted. But Lord, college life is very challenging. We interact with people from many backgrounds. It is easy to get carried away and drift away from your word. Help me, Lord, to continue worshipping you in spirit and truth. I also pray for other believers who are in college, help them to stand firm in the faith, and continue putting you first. In Jesus' name, we believe and pray, Amen.

Father, thank you for my student. This life you've woven in them is wonderful. During this school year, whether it's in the dorm adjusting to their roommates, standing on the marching band or athletic field, sitting in a classroom, or staring at their homework, may my student park their thoughts on you. Protect my child against self-harm, failure, depression, and laziness. Surround them with your truth concerning drugs, alcohol, sex, and faith. Close the door on blame, bad-mouthing, judgment, and condemnation. May they consider and cherish, instead, what is true, allowing your perfect love to cast out all fear. May they dwell on all that's honorable, just, pure, and lovely. May he/she toss aside the bad, clinging to the good especially when it comes to relationships and their future with you. May virtue and praise echo in their mind and be reflected in their words and actions. In Jesus' name, amen.
